Another Wednesday means some good midweek racing to get us through the week. Sydney has been hampered by torrential rain all week so we will be focusing on the Sandown meeting today, where there are eight strong races to get stuck into.
As usual, Billy Bestford has had a look across all the meetings and has found his best bets for the day.

Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday July 6th
Race 1
Think (8) Hypothetical can win here having his 2nd start following a strong enough debut. That was on a heavy Mornington track and I think should improve with added fitness and getting on to drier ground. The jump out leading into into the debut run was impressive and I think he’s above average.
(10) Sugar Pop showed ability in debut prep when running on well for 2nd on debut. Then went around a very short favourite but pulled up with post race issues. Expect she can be running on strongly from the back of the field here.
Last time we saw (4) Nicconi Express he started $1.80 favourite against Beau Rossa, with the latter coming out a 2.5L winner. That horse has since performed well in a G1 and that sort of form line has to be respected.
(3) Nation Pride is having first start for Price Kent after a number of good efforts in NSW for the Freedmans. The form around him is good and he can perform well fresh.
(8) Hypothetical
$2.80 (1 unit)
Race 3
I know she’s had her issues but if we see her at her best (1) Kurabui is better than this sort of grade. Was always going to need the run fresh coming off that extended break and she was solid enough. She’s two from two 2nd up and getting out to the mile looks a big tick as does getting back on top of the ground. From barrier 1 and a nice claim for Alana Kelly she can be handy enough in running.
(1) Kissinger was a complete forgive last start when up on the speed in a fastly run race. All the horses from the back figured in the finish that day. He’s 4th up now and hard fit while back to the mile probably suits.
(8) Vittoriosa can improve getting back onto a good surface. Her run here in this grade two back was very good, only just being nosed out. She can lead them up again and prove tough to catch.
(5) Saint Tropez ran 3rd in a 3yo Group 1 in Adelaide two back and that should be strong enough for a race like this. Freshened up for the new stable now and is unbeaten at two runs over 1600m.
(1) Kurabui
$3.75 (1 unit)
Race 7
Think (10) Way To Go Paula looks a decent value chance here returning to the races. She’s always a much better fresh horse and her form across her career has shown she can measure up to a race like this. She doesn’t win out of turn but her jump outs have been good and think she has some class on a few of these.
(1) Awapuni Princess was beaten in the closest of finishes last start over this track/trip and is sure ot be right in this again. If she had drawn a wider gate I’d be more confident but she is clearly going well.
(2) Mitilda can be an improver getting away from wet tracks again. She was a tough on-speed winner here two back and dropping back to 1300m looks suitable. She gets in well after the claim and can be tough to run down up on speed.
(5) Passione will be having first start in Aus on the back of two good jump out wins. She’s shown she is a good horse when on the fresh side and she might be a class above these.
(10) Way To Go Paula
$11 (0.5 unit)
Race 8
Up to 1200m looks the key for (6) Grand Pope after two solid runs up the Flemington straight over shorter sprint trips. He flew home fresh and was again doing best work late again last start. Should get a nice trail into it and can be too strong over the concluding stages, Looks set to peak 3rd up now.
(13) Minouche is a smart horse in her own right, having won twice with two 2nds to her name as well. She was last seen finishing 5th behind Bard Raider in a good Saturday race. She’s 1/1 over 1200m.
(3) Sixbysixtythree won three on the bounce to start his career and then went around a $2.60F in a strong bm84 against It’sourtime. That was at the end of a long debut prep so he can improve here off a freshen up. His best form can win.
(12) Hello Broadcast looks the value runner here.
(6) Grand Pope
$4.20 (1 unit)
