Midweek twilight racing heads to Ladbrokes Park (Hillside) on Wednesday with the first of eight races getting underway at 3:40pm.
Despite 15mls of rain predicted to fall around the area during the early hours of the morning, the track is tipped to be a Good 4.
Brendan Bunworth has picked out four best bets to get us going and the first one comes up in race three.

Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, January 18th
Race 3
(3) Donatrice is a very consistent mare from the Archie Alexander stable and she does like running over this distance having run two seconds previously. Since her 2nd over this trip at Lakeside on December 14 she has had a short freshen up but has jumped out well since. She likes Good tracks and she should be in the top couple again.
(2) Manco Man won well at Mornington last time after settling on speed and he looks like he will go well over the distance.
(1) Lofty Star was too slow out last time but he has won 4 from 16 starts on Good tracks.
(4) Regal Valour won't find this race as hard as a few of her recent runs but is having a look at the track and distance for the first time.
(3) Donatrice WIN $4.00 TAB 2 units.
Race 4
(6) Toogoodfortoorak was in the steward’s report (lame) when 9th last time but I’m going on his Cranbourne win prior where he was a 5.25L winner. He led that day and I can see similar tactics being tried again here. He has won 3 of 10 starts on the Good and has the quality Ben Melham on.
(3) Miso makes the trip from Warrnambool and will start fav. He will likely settle outside of Toogoodfortoorak and he has run a 2nd over trip previously. He arguably should have won last start and he is the one to beat.
(9) Siamese settled on pace in a slowly run race last start when winning. Should run well again but this race is harder.
(10) Shanghai Venture is another who will want to settle on pace after winning well at Lakeside last start. This is harder and there will be a lot of pressure up front.
(6) Toogoodfortoorak WIN $6.50 bet365 1 unit.
Race 5
(1) Ruggiero likes this trip and has won over it before. He has been beaten under a length in his last couple and he has his hoof on the till. He does get back a bit in his races but he should be improved by racing at Hillside for the second time.
(5) New Level gets the inside barrier here and the Tony McEvoy colt should be able to use it to advantage. He had the gun run when winning on debut at Terang and he should get a similar run here.
(6) Blakmax powered to the line last time when 4th at Geelong and he may start favourite in this. Damien Oliver is on and the rise in distance should suit. It's his first try here but the big track should suit.
(10) Miss Keeler is another who can run home strongly. Her 3rd at Cranbourne was quite good and she could surprise at odds.
(1) Ruggiero WIN *Scratched*

Race 7
(6) Bendetta saluted for favourite backers last start at Cranbourne and the extra distance should suit. She does get back at this start and is a run on horse but you would think that the Hillside circuit would suit this Jason Warren filly. Dan Stackhouse stays on and she will start close to favourite again you would think despite this being a tougher race.
(9) Doublern will settle around 3rd in the run and should get every possible chance for Mark Kavanagh. Her Geelong 2nd was very good when beaten a nose and she is racing very consistently.
(2) Discerning is having her first try at the distance but after the way she ran on last time you would think it would be ok. Jamie Kah hops on.
(4) Everylittle Breeze has a wide barrier in 12 and was luckless last start. She is fitter now and would be higher in the selections if it weren't for the poor barrier.
