Sandown Hillside will host an eight-race program on Sunday as post AFL Grand Final fanatics continue the sporting fest of the weekend. The weather will remain fine and a Good surface awaits once again. Brendan Bunworth has provided his five best bets for the program below!
Sandown Racing Tips: Sunday, October 1st 2023
Race 1: Fierce Impact Pedigree Physique Performance - 1:15pm (AEST)
(2) Wishlor Lass is a nice mare who will appreciate the extra 100m here with the distance rise to 1400m. Her Jockey Jamie Kah has ridden here twice previously with no luck but has stuck with her here. She hit the long well last start so the extra ground should be no issues down the long straight. She has won 3 times from 5 starts on the Good but from barrier 4 she should get a nice cart into the rave from midfield or slightly worse of.
(6) Jennipending had a nice run before winning here last start (a nose) and she will likely try and come over again from barrier 9.
(8) Versilia has won 2 from 6 starts on Dry ground which she gets again. Kah has opted to hop off in preference to Wishlor Lass but the horse loses no talent in gaining Blake Shinn.
(9) Girl is very fit now and was a lot better last start when 2nd. Jye McNiel has finished top 3 on her in all career starts.
(2) Wishlor Lass - Win
$2.40 (3 Units)
Race 2: Evergreen Turf Handicap - 1:50pm (AEST)
(3) Hedged will find this a lot easier than his race last start (McNeil Stakes) where he led but got tired (4th) over 1200m. He drops back in distance for this one and Kah takes the ride. He usually settles on pace so from barrier 7 he will try and come over and land in the “one one” we suspect. Fully fit and ready to fire!
(2) Chilled has early toe and could lead this field. She is fit and likes Dry ground having never run worst than 3rd.
(5) Serasana jumped out well and will have plenty of admirers. Her win was on Dry ground where she ran quick time and Blake Shinn has been asked to ride.
(6) Lady In Pink ran a 1st and 2nd at Flemington Jumpouts which caught the eye of Craig Williams who rides. She will probably settle back and she should hit the line hard. Next time?
(3) Hedged - Win
$3 (3 Units)
Race 6: Ladbrokes Sandown Stakes (Group 3) - 4:15pm (AEST)
(1) Antino was a certainty beaten at Flemington last start where the horse looked home for all money but shied with 300m to go when looking for a run on the rails. The positive thing was that he regained himself to storm home to just miss a placing. James Orman is off and Blake Shinn is on. Another Good track will hope his chances and Shinn may look to go around horses in this race.
(3) Here To Shock was backed in late in his last run at Caulfield ($9.00 into $6.50) and did run on well when he didn't have much luck (2nd). Will settle up there and the Dry track suits.
(8) Golden Path faces a tough ask here but he did run on well after getting backed in last start (2nd).
(6) Superium is fitter now and is very experienced.
(1) Antino - Win
$1.80 (4 Units)
Race 7: Quayclean Handicap - 4:50pm (AEST)
(12) Let’srollthedice with this one from barrier 2 who has Kah on again who knows him pretty well. Kah has steered him into open air his last couple and he has run very well. He is up to 1800m now and will look to run on again. He has won and placed in better races than this.
(10) Ain’tnodeeldun loves Good tracks having won 5 times from 7 starts.
(9) Aberfeldie Boy hit the lime well for 2nd last start and the extra distance suits. Will be making his run with our top selection.
(8) Flash Flood is so consistent and it would be hard to leave him out of multiples.
(12) Let’srollthedice - Win
$8.50 (1 Unit)
Race 8: Stow Storage Solutions Handicap - 5:25pm (AEST)
(16) Watadeel was unlucky last start when 5th. He has a wide barrier here in 16 and will need a Kah special. Before his 5th it was a great win at Lakeside. Will be winning another soon.
(11) Rehienberg has been impressing punters and will be settling around 3rd or 4th. Will be a few lengths in front of our top selection early.
(10) Faretti is fitter now and will roll forward.
(8) Pascero is hard to catch and can miss the start. Has won 3 from 7 on the Dry.
(16) Watadeel - Win
$6.50 (2 Units)
