Ladbrokes Park (Hillside) gets another chance to host metropolitan racing on a Saturday again with a nine-race card on show.
It's a good program too with some smart ones resuming and some talented horses looking to make amends after going down as short priced favourites last time they raced.
It should be a Good track with gallopers running in a coolish 19 degrees for this time of year.
Brendan Bunworth has picked out his four best Sandown racing tips!
Sandown Hillside Racing Tips: Saturday February 4th 2023
Race 1
(1) Inundation is back after being beaten at $1.40 last time at this track. Jamie Kah stays on and we do have to remember that the son of Headwater did break the track record when first up. The Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr team have freshened him up since and will be bullish in making amends for punters and connections this time.
(3) Fire for Team Hawkes has trialed well leading up to this which he probably needed to do if he was to going to trouble Inundation. Damien Oliver is on the gelding is 2 from 2 at Hillside. He will settle a couple of lengths behind Inundation and will probably run a stronger final 200m, but will it be enough?
(5) Millane is resuming and he has won first up before. He does probably want another 200 to 400m but he should finish within 3 or 4 lengths. Ben Melham takes the ride.
(7) Tycoon Humma is another who goes well first up and she has won 3 of 10 at the distance. She did jump out well at Mornington two weeks ago.
(1) Inundation WIN
$2 (4 Units)
Race 2
(2) Veecee won easily last start down the straight at Flemington and the two year old Capitalist colt will attract plenty of support on that effort but he does have to carry 59kg this time. He showed a good turn off foot at Flemington and if he is in the firing line with 300m to go he should be able to let down well.
(3) Serasana has won at Hillside previously and after winning last start has had a jumpout to be ready for this. Dean Yendall takes the ride and will fancy making it two from two.
(1) Zulfiqar has drawn inside and with blinkers on should finish close up again. After winning at Flemington on debut he was then 5th at the same track weeks later but the Cummings team have opted for the shades this time.
(7) Extremely Wicked may try to lead this and that is probably the only way that he will trouble the above horses in this. Probably the X-factor horse.
(2) Veecee WIN
$2.70 (2 Units)
Race 3
(1) Hennessy Lad was very good last start and should have finished closer. Peter Moody knows he is close to a win. He is up in distance to 1800m which should suit and with it being his fourth race this prep he should be one of the fittest horses in this race. It got tight last time but on a bigger track he should get more room.
(2) Blakmax is up 400m after winning at this track last start. Before that he was luckless at Geelong and another rise in distance should be a positive move.
(8) Field the Moment led and almost got there at The Valley last start and he should be fitter now after two runs back from a spell.
(6) Dillinger rises another 200m and should attract market support again. Is a last start winner but this is a little harder.
(1) Hennessy Lad WIN
$3 (3 Units)
Race 8
*SCRATCHED* (11) Riot and Rose is very fit and comes into this race full of confidence after winning the Camperdown Cup over 1600m. Jamie Kah is on for Peter Moody and it will be interesting to see if Riot and Rose gets similar support again. Before that at The Valley he probably went a little early but still ran well for 4th.
(9) Beltoro is having a good prep and raced very well for a win last start at Flemington. Another spacious track should suit.
(5) Detonator Jack will start favourite again but i am worried about the wide barrier in 11. Freshened for this and will be backed in one would think.
(2) Grand Promenade is resuming and this is too short but he did trial well.
(11) Riot and Rose WIN
