Welcome to our preview and horse racing betting tips for the best betting races at Rosehill, Bendigo and Bunbury on Wednesday, February 28th.
We’ve taken a look at all three cards and selected the races we’re keenest to bet into, and you can find our tips and comments on each of those below.
ROSEHILL RACING TIPS
RACE 8
Big field over the 2400m and once again we see a handful of Waller runners engaged, which I’m rarely keen to get involved in, but (12) Mazaz has gradually been running into form this preparation and finally put a win on the board last start after a luckless run two starts ago. His win came over 2200m at Warwick Farm and he steps up in grade and up in distance here. Drawn well in 2 and weighted well with 53.5kg, he should be hard to beat at $4.40 as these Waller horses typically hold their form once they’re up and winning.
TIP: (12) Mazaz
BENDIGO RACING TIPS
RACE 5
Open race here and we have a relatively short priced favourite in the form of (6) Trojan Storm, but I’m keen to have something on a couple at longer odds. (5) Stringer Bell is one of those, representing Darren Weir with Brad Rawiller on board. He’s done very little in two runs back from a spell but he rarely does, and he wouldn’t be coming to a Wednesday metro race if he wasn’t up to it, so expect sharp improvement third up here at $8. (9) O’Lonhro is in a similar boat – he hasn’t run in the money at two starts back from a spell but both runs have had merit, and his record suggests he needs those runs anyway. Finds himself in a winnable race third up at $7.50.
TIP: (5) Stringer Bell / (9) O’Lonhro Bay
RACE 6
Nice little race. Sticking with (9) Our Chiquilla, in the hope she can pay us back for some luckless recent runs. She continues to run in the money but she hasn’t had much go her way recently, so if she gets a better ride from Jamie Mott today she can bounce back at $3.70. The obvious danger looks to be (6) Miss Adequate who comes off a 2nd placing to Spanish Reef last start, which looks a very good form line for a Wednesday race. Also having something small on (1) Go Down who gets the blinkers back on today for his return to his favourite track. He’s never missed a place at the track and could give a show at $6.
TIP: (9) Our Chiquilla / Go Down EW
RACE 7
Could be making a big mistake here but I’m giving one more chance to (6) Sam’s Image after he put in an absolute shocker first up at the Valley. Last preparation he ran 2nd to Eptimum and he beat Nature Strip, so he can’t be as bad as what he showed first up. If he doesn’t improve today he may not have come up this preparation, but if I took even money first up I have to take $5.50 today. (1) Sacred Sham was truckloaded last start and had no luck whatsoever, so with Oliver going on he rates as a big chance. (11) Shadow Fighter is one to watch first up from a spell.
TIP: (6) Sam’s Image
BUNBURY RACING TIPS
RACE 4
There’s been a good go for (11) Racy Ava here and it’s little surprise because her opening quote was ridiculous and this isn’t a strong maiden. She mixed her form last preparation but was only 2.75L off Art Series in Group 3 company, so first up with a good trial under the belt, she looks hard to beat at $3.70. (10) Teacher’s Pet gets blinkers on for the first time and Pike takes over, so from the good draw, third up from a spell, she’s also right in the picture here.
TIP: (11) Racy Ava
RACE 9
Leaning towards (2) Plays The Game, who has put in a couple of good efforts recently and drops back from a Class 5 to a Class 1 here. Chris Parnham keeps the ride and it looks to get every chance today. One win from 19 starts is my biggest concern. I’m also having something small on (5) Tyson Fight at $21. He’s done little in his two runs back this time in, but he did the same last preparation and then came out and won third up. He wasn’t that far away last start so up in distance at his third run back could see him run a decent race. Saving (6) Mississippi Delta.
TIP (2) Plays The Game / Tyson Fight EW
