Randwick Racing Tips: Wednesday, May 15th 2024
Race 3: James Squire BM68 1300 – 1:25pm (AEST)
(1) Franz Josef $3.50: 3YO gelding who is undefeated from two runs. First up win was exceptional over this track at 1400m where he won nicely beating second by half a length and huge gaps to the rest. Second up win he put them away around the corner and never looked like losing. Won by 2.5L after being plonked $2.50 into $1.80. Returns today after two trials with the most recent being very impressive. Meets the heavy track for the first time, but looks capable over 1300m and form on the soft tracks. Draws a nice gate and has Nash Rawiller to steer. If we see anything similar to his first two runs he will take catching, especially on the heavy. Goes well.
(10) Llanddwyn $26/$5.50: 3YO filly who has battled in her last two, but did show some promise running on late. Gets a slight rise in trip now which will suit and is a proven winner over a similar distance. She gets in nicely at the weights here and should be rock hard fit, but is also first up on the Heavy, so keen to see how she tackles it. Worth thought?
(1) Franz Josef
$3.50 (2 Units)
Race 4: Petaluma BM72 1250m - 2:00pm (AEST)
(6) Famous Pedrille $11/$3.10: 3YO gelding who returns today and comes in off two trial wins where he looked terrific without being asked at all. He is proven first up and has a win on the soft track, but has to tackle the heavy track for the first time, but looks capable over this trip and after those trials where the tracks looks weather effected even though it was classed as “Good”. Gets in well at the weights here too with a 3kg claim engaged. Happy to take the risk on the Heavy here with the light weight.
(2) Bill The Boxer $4.80: The swimmer of the field with 2 wins from 3 attempts on the heavy. He has a good second up record and gets a top jockey booked. Worth thought again but has to lug 62.5kg. Watch the market.
(6) Famous Pedrille E/W
$11/$3.10 (1 Unit)
Race 7: TAB BM64 1800m 3:45pm (AEST)
(9) Bestower $8.50/$2.80: 3YO filly who peeled out nicely and pushed through and kicked clear to score on the heavy last start by almost 2L over the mile. Rises up to 1800m now which looks perfect off that run. It’s been a month between runs, so expect her to be over that run on the heavy and ready to fire again. Draws wide, but should allow for her to slot in midfield with cover and repeat the last start win. Rock hard fit for this now and D. Gibbons in the saddle is no slouch. Keen!
(10) Djapana $18/$4.60: 3YO filly who finished off her last campaign with two wins and has returned well, but clearly needs this rise in distance. Only beaten less then a length last start and was in the worst going of the track. Looks suited today at this distance and should be peaking now. Worth thought.
(9) Bestower E/W
$8.50/$2.80 (1U/2U)
