The $10,000 Spring Tipping competition covers the below Group 1 races run over the Spring Carnival. It starts off on the 14th October with the world's richest turf race, The Everest.
How it works is simple – you are gifted a $100 each-way bet for all nominated races. After each race, your successful punting with the virtual dollars determines your place on the leaderboard. The accumulated payouts from all your $100 each-way bets make up your score (Payout is inclusive of stake).
All eligible players will select one (1) primary horse from each of the designated races for the tournament. A second selection may be used in the event that the first selection is scratched. If you forget to bet, you will receive the default runner in the race(s) you miss, which will be the race favourite as outlined in competition rules.
After each nominated race, Palmerbet will compute the combined pay-out for a player’s virtual race bet, which will be added to the player’s score. The Best Tote Win/Place product is used for calculations. After 'Correct Weight' is signaled on the race, the leaderboard will be updated and displayed on the Palmerbet website so you can track your overall position in the competition.
At the conclusion of the competition (Darley Stakes day, 11th November 2017), the player who has accrued the most virtual dollars over the course of the entire competition will be deemed the King of Spring!
Timing
When to place your virtual $100 each-way bet? Your race tips can only be made once the final field has been declared. This will generally be 3-4 days before the event. You can bet up to the advertised start time.

Eligibility
The competition is FREE to enter. You must, however, be registered with Palmerbet, and have a positive Palmerbet account balance at time of entry to be eligible. Registering with Palmerbet is quick and easy, just click here to join the competition.
How do I make my picks?
By clicking the primary box to the right of the horse’s name. Doing that will lock in your selection. You can also make an alternate selection which comes into play if your primary selection is scratched. If both selections are scratched, the starting tote favourite is used as your selection.
What if there is a dead heat?
Both selections are paid out at the adjusted tote prices.
When do races close for selections?
When the running clock on the race page expires. This will generally be at advertised start time. It is recommended that players have their primary selections in at the latest, 30 seconds before advertised start time.
Can I join the competition after it has started?
No, the running of The Everest at Randwick on the 14th October will be the shut-off time for entries. Players must have registered to play before the commencement of The Everest.
