We are back with another slate of Sunday racing tips. This week we preview the eight race card at Pakenham and the short six race card at Ballarat and give our tips for every race!
PAKENHAM RACING TIPS
R1 - Fit'n'elfie
R2 - Domination
R3 - Hibernator EW / Sharp Diamond EW (Best Value)
R4 - Nistaan / Step On It EW
R5 - Oracabessa (Best Bet) / Robbo The Bold EW
R6 - Good Offa EW
R7 - Rushard
R8 - Desimaan EW
Best Bet: Race 5 Oracabessa
Competitive race but this horse was a good maiden winner last start after racing well in city company prior. Winning first start out of maiden grade isn't easy but she won by 2.75L last start which suggests she can go on with it. Has performed well at both starts at this track and Damian Lane is a strong jockey booking for the Smerdon stable. Maps well from barrier 5 and can win again.
Best Value: Race 3 Sharp Diamond
Thought $34 was a big price for this Tony McEvoy trained horse. Has been poor in two most recent starts but both have been on wet tracks and both times he's pulled up with lacerations. Blinkers back on here could see him run an improved race. The Hayes pair are obviously hard to beat but $5.75 looks a nice place price.
BALLARAT RACING TIPS
R1 - Murphy's Delight
R2 - Masterson EW
R3 - Cougar Express / Music To Midnight EW (Best Value)
R4 - Chequered Flag / Two Hats to place (Best Bet)
R5 - Trouble Bound
R6 - Dormello Mo
Best Bet: Race 4 Two Hats to place
Chequered Flag looks the obvious winner here, but outside of him there really is three main competitors, and I think Two Hats has Mujadale covered based on his win three starts ago when beating Mujadale by 10 lengths. He loves Heavy ground and is undefeated at the distance, so $1.95 to place looks a great price.
Best Value: Race 3 Music To Midnight
Competitive race and Cougar Express is by no means a sure thing on the Heavy ground, despite bringing the best exposed form to the race. Music To Midnight won well on Heavy ground on the flat over 2400m three starts ago and last start ran an improved race over hurdles. The Heavy ground may see him improve further here and in a race where there's queries about other runners handling the ground, the $8.50 appeals.
