Super Saturday in Round 15 kicks off on the Gold Coast as the Titans face the Raiders. The injury-riddled Roosters will look to continue their dominance over the Tigers. Meanwhile, the game of the night will see the Rabbitohs battle the Sea Eagles at ANZ Stadium.
NRL Round 15 Saturday Betting Tips
Titans vs Raiders
Sat, Aug 22 3:00pm
The Titans 30-18 defeat against the Sharks last week will mainly be remembered for one thing - Kevin Proctor. So we'll let the judiciary make their call on the biting incident. Obviously, it was tough for the Titans to play with 12 men after Proctors send off so they'll look to rebound as a team against the Raiders this Saturday. At the time of writing, Proctor has still been named play. But they have lost the important Jai Arrow to injury and Copley will miss as well. So the impressive Moeaki Fotuaika will play lock and Don/Sami return on their respective wings.
As we expected, the Raiders got their attack going against the Broncos last week with a 36-8 victory in the end. But Ricky Stuart wouldn't be overly pleased after they headed to half-time with an 8-6 deficit. So their gameplan on Saturday will be limiting errors and continuing the Titans edge defence woes. In good news for Canberra, there were no injuries to report from last week and they'll run with the same 17.
Obviously, we have a huge total set for Saturday afternoon conditions on the Gold Coast. However, the Raiders have conceded just 6 total points against the Gold Coast in the last 2 meetings and that includes a 21-0 shutout on Sunday afternoon last season. On the flip-side, the Raiders aren't a high scoring team at the moment so we just like the Under here.
Wests Tigers vs Roosters
Sat, Aug 22 5:30pm
Well, the Tigers finally ended a 3 game losing streak but a 29-28 win over the Bulldogs wouldn't fill many with much confidence. The Tigers can score points like the best team in the competition but their defence is just severely lacking, especially after conceding 28 points to one of the worst attacking teams in the NRL. So they'll need to find a defensive structure to upset the Roosters here. In team selections, they could regain Alex Twal from injury but at this stage, they're unchanged.
A 24-6 loss to the Storm last Thursday night was compounded by more injury issues for this side. Notably, Luke Keary suffered a serious rib injury and will miss this clash along with Lachy Lam and Aubusson. So they've brought back Kyle Flanagan into the halfback role and he'll partner with Drew Hutchinson in the halves. They do get Brett Morris and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves from injury as well.
In the history between these two sides, it's been all about the Roosters. They hold an incredible 13-1 head to head record since 2012. So we find it hard to back against the trend and they should be fired up after a pretty poor display against Melbourne.
Rabbitohs vs Sea Eagles
Sat, Aug 22 7:35pm
South Sydney are back at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night and they'll be after an improved performance on the weekend. Despite a 31-30 win over the Cowboys last Saturday, Souths made 12 errors and the likes of Latrell Mitchell had an off game. But thanks to the boot of Adam Reynolds, he nailed a late conversion and field goal in the 79th minute to help Souths hold onto their top 8 position. For this clash, they have lost Liam Knight to suspension and Bayley Sironen will come back into the run on side.
Manly will be kicking themselves after letting an early lead slip against the Knights last Sunday in the 26-24 defeat. However, it was a great effort considering their lengthy injury list and they should be confident of ending a 3 game losing streak this weekend. They'd also be stocked with the performance of Taniela Paseka, who continually gave the Knights defence plenty of issues. In a massive boost, they get Marty Taupau back from injury and Jorge Taufua returns to his wing. They will be without Brendan Elliot for a while as he did his ACL so Garrick will move into the fullback position.
History suggests this will be a close contest for the 80 minutes. In the last 3 meetings, the average winning margin is 3.33 points and that includes 2 games decided by a field goal. So with either side desperate for the 2 points, we'll be getting on either team to win this by under 10.5 points.
