Penrith Panthers
Several Panthers players were out to display an improved performance following Origin and they delivered. It wasn’t the most comprehensive of displays, but they did what was needed. They will need an improved effort to be competitive next week in a trip south to Melbourne.

Parramatta Eels
On a 5-game winning streak and have their second Bye of the season forthcoming. The tide is turning for the Eels, and they need to continue to build positive momentum. Arguably the form team of the competition.

New Zealand Warriors
Won in style against the Dragons. Not the most difficult of opponents but the execution in obtaining victory would’ve previously eluded the Warriors. This team has grown; they are showing maturity and key players are taking control of the team’s performance.

Brisbane Broncos
Dropped a game against the Titans and were not without chances. In the end, it was their own poor execution which let them down. There is no cause for concern just yet but fatigue to key players through Origin will play an important role in creating a positive performance.

South Sydney Rabbitohs
Disappointing again. Their defence is conceding a lot of points and their attacking potency has abandoned them. It is time for this side to take stock and focus on the run towards the Finals.

Melbourne Storm
Poor early on against the Sea Eagles but found their feet to outplay their opponents. More will be needed of them in coming weeks. They will again need to prove themselves again this week at home against the Panthers.

Canberra Raiders
Travelled to face the Roosters and delivered an impressive display. They will be frustrated that they allowed their opponents back into the match but were victorious in the end. A big game, at home against the Titans, awaits.

North Queensland Cowboys
Where has this been? The Cowboys were confident, executed accordingly and made their opponents pay for their mistakes. It has taken until the second half of the year to find momentum, but they reminded fans that they are a capable team on their day.

Cronulla Sharks
A week off with the Bye following a strong performance against the Bulldogs. Consolidating ahead of a match against a rival, in the Dragons, is important moving forward. They will be eagerly awaiting the return of key players from injury.

The Dolphins
The slide at the Dolphins continues. This time, it was the Eels who outplayed them at home. The game was over at HT. They need to stop the rot occurring, otherwise, they will quickly become uncompetitive.

Gold Coast Titans
Finally, a worthy performance. Perhaps a few players were put on notice with the impending arrival of coach Hasler. Holbrook was sacked mid-week at the turn around has been impressive. Is this standard here to stay? Only time will tell.

Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles
Appeared capable at one stage but the Storm were hardly at their best. Once their opponents found their feet, the class between the two sides was evident. How will they cover the loss of Turbo moving forward? Someone else needs to stand up.

Newcastle Knights
The score would suggest a close game but to the eye, the Knights were hardly in with a chance of winning against the Panthers. They are putting themselves is good enough positions, but they are unable to finish it off.

Sydney Roosters
Another loss in a game which they should’ve won. They now come up against the Sea Eagles, another opponent they will be favoured against. Time for the Roosters players to take a stand to salvage their season.

Wests Tigers
A week off ahead of a trip north to Townsville to face the Cowboys. They will want this game to begin as quickly as possible to erase the memories of a poor performance against the Storm in Round 16. They need to continue to build towards next season.

St George-Illawarra Dragons
A very poor display, defeated by 30-points at home. Hunt’s impending departure will add further pressure to this organisation. They have a rivalry game against the Sharks on Thursday and may just be playing for pride.

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
A Bye this week but a game is quickly needed to overcome their 38 points loss to the Sharks. An extended break means they do not face the Knights until Sunday, a winnable game for this club. A few concerning signs are emerging, but their focus should be on 2024.
