NRL Round 20 Friday Betting Tips
Titans vs Knights
Fri, Sep 25 6:00pm
The Titans will aim for a 5th straight win to close out 2020 as they host the finals bound Knights. After conceding the first try in the 1st minute last week against Manly, Gold Coast turned on their attack with a total of 8 tries in the 42-24 result. They took full advantage of the Sea Eagles woeful edge defence and also continued their excellent record at Brooky. So they're in good enough form to trouble a top 8 side. In team news, they'll get Brian Kelly back in the centres and Corey Thompson has been dropped.
Meanwhile, the Knights have locked up a finals matchup with South Sydney but the venue is the key. If the Knights win, they'll get a home final. Otherwise, they'll head to ANZ. So the stakes are high for Newcastle as they'll be desperate for a home final and any advantage to extend their season. Their form at the moment is all over the shop with 2 big wins and 2 big losses. So it's hard to read which Newcastle team is going to show up. But in positive team news, they'll get Bradman Best back in the centres and Kurt Mann at hooker.
While the Knights will be desperate to win, the Titans won't make it easy. So we're liking the chances of a high scoring affair. The Knights last 4 games have totalled 42+ points and the Over is 6-2 in their last 8. Meanwhile, the Titans are coming off 42 points and should be able to expose the Knights defence.
Rabbitohs vs Roosters
Fri, Sep 25 7:55pm
South Sydney need help from the Titans to earn a home final but regardless, they just need to beat the Roosters, which won't be an easy task. The Rabbitohs were really average against a Bulldogs side that just wanted it more and it's not a good sign for Souths coming into the finals. So Friday nigh’s battle with the Roosters will be an indicator of their premiership chances. In team news, they have lost Su'A to suspension but Gagai is likely to return from a hamstring.
Sydney continued their winning ways on the weekend with a comfortable 34-18 victory over the Sharks. They've now won 5 on the trot and their chances of reaching a 3rd straight Grand Final are looking great. This clash with Souths should be an ideal hit-out before the finals and there is still 3rd spot on the line. With a loss, they'll have to face the Panthers if the Eels beat the Tigers. In team selections, the Roosters will bring back plenty of firepower with Tedesco, Friend, Cordner and Taukeiaho all returning. Manu, Collins and Liu will all get a rest before finals.
Not an ideal preparation for Souths after losing to the Bulldogs last week but hopefully they can show something against their old rivals. However, the Roosters have their measure in defence by allowing just 3 tries in the last 2 meetings. So we do like the chances of a fairly low scoring game, especially considering the total hasn't gone over 44.5 points in the last 5 meetings. The Under is also 4-0 between the two teams at ANZ.
