AFL Round 15 Richmond vs Fremantle Betting Tips
Metricon Stadium, 7.10pm (AEST)
The Tigers will be looking to continue their strong hub form when they take on a Dockers outfit that copped a hiding on the weekend. This Wednesday night match is set to kick off at 7.10pm (AEST) from Metricon Stadium.
Richmond
Richmond had the tough task of taking on the form team of the competition last weekend in the Eagles, and they were more than up to it on their way to a 25 point win. All the big guns were flying for the Tigers, and they’ve now moved into favouritism for the flag on the back of eight wins from their last 10 games.
The Tigers have been plagued by injuries over the past couple of seasons and this campaign has been no different. That said, they have generally had a healthy list come finals, and this season is shaping up to be a similar story. They still have a number of key players to come in before they’re near full strength, but most are only a week or two away.
We expect Richmond to get plenty of shots on goal in this one, so goal scorer markets look the way to attack the player props. Fremantle are lacking height in their back line in a big way, which will open the door for the likes of Riewoldt, Lynch, or even Dusty to kick a bag. You can take your pick from the trio, but we’ll be backing in Lynch to get on the end of a few, as the Dockers simply don’t have a match-up anywhere near his size.
Fremantle
Fremantle put together a really strong month or so of football coming into their clash with GWS, but it seems their young list may have run out of gas. They looked lethargic from the opening bounce and ended up heavy losers without ever firing a shot. Finals are now clearly out of reach for this rebuilding Freo unit.
The Dockers are getting extremely thin in their backline, especially in terms of key position defenders. Hamling and Pearce are out for the season, Logue is out for at least two more weeks, and they lost arguably their current B&F leader in Luke Ryan just after half time last weekend. Ryan is a ‘test’ at this stage, but we can’t imagine the Dockers taking any unnecessary risks.
We went with our game theory for our first pick and we were keen to do the same by backing in some Fremantle defenders to rack up some possessions, but the value just isn’t there. It’s also very, very tough to like and Dockers players in the goal scorer markets, so we’ll steer clear altogether.
Prediction
Richmond have had the dominance over most sides in recent years and Fremantle are no different. The Tigers have won four of the last five and each of their three most recent meetings with the Dockers.
The reigning premiers have hit their straps over the last month or so and the bookies are respecting that by setting a line around five goals against the Dockers. Even in the shorter quarters, we can still see Richmond eclipsing that with ease providing they play with the same intent we’ve seen from them in recent weeks. A 40+ point Tiger win certainly wouldn’t surprise.
