AFL Round 13 Collingwood vs North Melbourne Betting Tips
Gabba, Monday 7.10pm (AEST)
Our AFL betting tips have been highly profitable this season and we’re confident we have some more winners on the way in this match. The Magpies will start at around $1.40 favourites and the line has been set at 16.5 points.
Collingwood
The Magpies were smashed by the Demons last weekend despite going in as favourites, and now find themselves in a genuine battle to make the top eight. They’re currently sitting in eighth spot on the ladder but still have fixtures against the top two sides in the Lions and the Power still to come.
Nathan Buckley swung the axe at the selection table by omitting the trio of Callum Brown, Lynden Dunn and Rupert Wills, while talls Brody Mihocek and Ben Reid will both miss with injury. Headlining the inclusions is Jordan Roughead who’s been sorely missed down back, and Mason Cox gets another in the seniors after missing through poor form.
An extensive injury list for the majority of the season has clearly hurt the Magpies, but it has aided the growth of Josh Daicos as a midfielder. His midfield minutes continue to increase week on week and that’s starting to translate to some big disposal numbers. Daicos has clocked 20+ touches four times this season, two of which have come in the past three games. He’s been a real shining light for the Magpies and we expect him to be among the major ball-winners again on Monday night.

North Melbourne
North Melbourne were brave against the Lions in Round 12 but came up one point short. They’ve now won just once from their past 10 games and look destined to finish in the bottom four. They’re sitting in 17th on the ladder and haven’t had nearly enough output from some of their veteran and high-profile players.
Rhyce Shaw is looking for more of the same from his team this weekend and has made just the two changes to last weekend’s line-up. Robbie Tarrant comes in for Sam Durdin, and Paul Ahern enters for the injured Will Walker. Jared Polec, Majak Daw and Aaron Hall are all named among the emergencies.
It’s been a tough season for a lot of North players, but someone who’s thriving in hub life is Luke McDonald. He’s become their go-to guy across half back and has been putting up some huge disposal numbers as a result. McDonald has been particularly good across the past four games where he’s averaged 27.5 touches an outing. The Magpies are generally a team that allow accumulators to go about their business, so we’re expecting another big game from McDonald.

Prediction
This certainly isn’t the sexiest game of the round and it probably won’t be the greatest standard of skill either, considering the current form of both clubs. It’s a little bit surprising to see the Magpies as such heavy favourites when the highest score they’ve kicked for their past nine games is 64 points. They’re struggling to score and their defence has also been poor of late, which is highly unusual for the Buckely-coached Magpies. On the other hand, The Kangaroos have only won three games this season and two of those were in the opening couple of rounds. With that said, they were impressive last weekend and would’ve taken a lot of confidence from the way they performed. All things considered, it’s a tricky game to predict, but we’ll be siding with North Melbourne to cover a generous spread.
