AFL Round 11 Sunday Betting Tips
West Coast vs Carlton
Optus Stadium, 3.35pm (AEST)
The Eagles are flying high at the moment, having won their last five games on the trot and storming into the top eight on the back of a rough start to the season. They had the bye in Round 10, but their last game was still only a week ago as they defeated the Cats at Optus Stadium by nine points on Saturday. The Blues were comfortably defeated by the Hawks in their last game, and now sit in 13th place on the ladder with a 4-5 record.
The Eagles still have a lot of room for improvement, with the likes of Jeremy McGovern, Jack redden and Nathan Vardy still to come back into the side. They should continue to improve and at the moment, they look worthy of the premiership favourite tag placed on them. The Blues have some injury concerns of their own, but could get Mitch McGovern back from injury this week with both Paddy Dow and Caleb Marchbank likely another week away.
The Eagles start as 19.5 point favourites here, which we think it a little light given their form of late. After a slow start to the season, they have won their last five by an average margin of 34.4 points and have won their last five on the trot against Carlton by an average margin of 25.4 points. Back the Eagles to cover at home.
Melbourne vs North Melbourne
Adelaide Oval, 6.10pm (AEST)
The Demons got a desperately needed win in Round 10 as they downed the Crows by 51 points at Adelaide Oval. The matchup against the winless Crows couldn’t have come at t abetter time for the Dees, who were going through some turmoil at the club after two straight losses. They have another really winnable game on Sunday against the Roos, who sit in 15th place with a 3-7 record.
In a big blow for the Demons, star players Max Gawn and Jack Viney will miss through injury. Outside of Christian Petracca, the two have been arguably Melbourne’s best players this season. North Melbourne have injury concerns of their own, with Ben Brown, Ben Cunnington, Ben Jacobs, Nick Larkey, Curtis Taylor and Jack Ziebell all still out of the side.
Really tough game to call here. Melbourne start as 3.5 point favourites but we thin the Roos will have some confidence after a big win last weekend. The line sits at 125.5 and we like the under here. The two sides are both in the bottom half of the league for goals scored per game and the Demons in particular have not been involved in a game that has totalled over 125 points in the last three weeks.
