Melbourne Rebels vs ACT Brumbies
Fri, Aug 6 7:05pm (AEST)
It's a rematch of Round 1 of the Super Rugby AU season on Friday night as the Rebels "host" the Brumbies at Leichhardt Oval. In their first meeting of the season, the Brumbies took an early lead to half-time but the Rebels showed resilience in the second half as they just fell short in the 31-23 result. With Melbourne sitting 3rd on the ladder, this really is a massive game against the ladder leaders and almost a must-win if the Rebels are looking for a top-two finish. They should take confidence out of their second half against the Brumbies last time out and come into this game with winning form.
Meanwhile, the Brumbies are flying high at the top of the ladder after 4 straight wins and 2 bonus points. But they were challenged by the Reds last week in a thrilling 22-20 victory in Canberra. Bench kicker Mackenzie Hansen nailed a long penalty goal extra time to seal a crucial victory for the home side. They're sitting 7 points ahead of the competition and a win over the Rebels will bridge the gap even further.
While the Rebels have lost their last 2 clashes against the Brumbies, it always seems to be a tough battle between these two teams. So we're not overly keen on a big Brumbies victory here as the Rebels should be able to keep this one within 2 penalty goals.

New South Wales Waratahs vs Queensland Reds
Sat, Aug 7 7:15pm (AEST)
The traditional State of Origin rivalry between the Waratahs and Reds continues this Saturday night. With both sides coming off a loss, that should see two desperate teams and a cracking contest on Saturday. For the Reds, they were simply unlucky to lose against the Brumbies last week as a late penalty goal sunk their hopes of a massive upset in the 22-20 result. But they still sit 2nd on the ladder and they'll be looking to stay there with another win over the 'Tahs.
While for the Waratahs, it's been a tough start to the season after just 1 win from their 3 games. They will be fresh from the bye here and should be keen to avenge not only their first meeting with the Reds (close loss at Suncorp) but a 29-10 loss against the Rebels a few weeks ago.
The Waratahs haven't lost a home game against the Reds since 2013 and that includes 5 straight wins. Obviously, they're not the same side at the moment but they just seem to matchup well with the Reds. Which probably has something to do with this rivalry. So we're going to stick with the trend and hope the desperate Waratahs can get their season back on track with a spirited effort against the QLD Reds.
