AFL Round 10 Wednesday Betting Tips
Geelong vs North Melbourne
Gabba, Wednesday 5.40pm (AEST)
Geelong had the difficult task of travelling to Perth to take on the Eagles in round 9 and although they fought hard, couldn’t get the job done, going down by 9 points. They’ll get a much easier job this week as they ‘host’ the Kangaroos from the Gabba on Wednesday night.
Skipper Joel Selwood looks set to return to the line-up against the Roos after missing the last few weeks with a hamstring injury while Tom Atkins, Josh Jenkins, Rhys Stanley and Quinton Narkle will all need to pass fitness tests to play. The Roos are battling a lengthy injury list as well and it’s unknown whether out of form forward duo Ben Brown and Jared Polec will be back in the line-up this week.
Even after a solid win over Adelaide on the weekend, we just can’t see the Roos being too much of a problem for the Cats on Wednesday night. Geelong have won their last five in a row against North Melbourne and that streak should continue this week.
Bonus Tip
Midfielder Cam Guthrie has shouldered more responsibility in the absence of Selwood. Through the first seven games of the season, he averaged just 18.7 disposals per game but in the last two games with Selwood out of the line-up, that number has jumped to 26.5. We have been on the Guthrie train for the last few weeks but we expect him to come back to earth a bit on Wednesday night, providing the skipper does make a return.

Adelaide vs Melbourne
Adelaide Oval, Wednesday 8.10pm (AEST)
The dismal season for the Crows continued on the weekend as they were pulverised by the Roos to the tune of 69 points. That will likely be the last truly winnable game Adelaide have for a while, with games against Melbourne, Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs to come over the next three weeks. They currently sit 0-9 at the bottom of the ladder with a percentage of just 56.7.
Melbourne looked like one of the hotter teams in the AFL after wins over Gold Coast and the Hawks followed by a gallant effort against the Lions in Round 8, however, they were pretty disappointing in Round 9, going down to the Power by 51 points. They’ll be desperate to bounce back after sliding to 15 on the ladder with a 3-5 record.
Again, as poor as the Demons were against Port Adelaide, we can’t see the Crows giving them a lot of problems on Wednesday night. Adelaide are far and away the worst team in the league this year and they have covered just one line all year, which came in Round 8 in a three point loss to the Bombers. Back the Demons to cover the 15.5 point line here, a margin which the Crows have come within just twice in nine games this season.
