Bundesliga Matchday 27 Betting Tips
Hertha Berlin vs Union Berlin
Hertha Berlin went into their first game post-hiatus as underdogs but came out 3-0 winners in an impressive display against Hoffenheim. As a result, Hertha climbed into 11th spot on the ladder and are now eight points behind the top six and eight points in front of the bottom three.
Union Berlin were tossed straight into the deep water in their first game back when they hosted champions Bayern Munich last weekend. UB put up a good effort for the majority of the game, but the class of the champs shone through in the final third with their two goals being the difference. UB are now in 12th spot and one point behind Hertha.
These two Berlin-based clubs had completely contrasting results in their first game back playing and we feel it may carry over into this weekend’s action. Hertha were fantastic in their emphatic win last start and are now back on their home deck against a lesser side. We expect them to be full of confidence and to record another important win.
Wolfsburg vs Borussia Dortmund
Wolfsburg left it until stoppage time to claim a very important win in their first game back against Augsburg last weekend. Daniel Ginczek was the hero in the 91st minute with his goal that saw his club move two points clear of 7th spot on the table. As it stands, Wolfsburg would qualify for the Europa League next season, but there’s still a long way to go yet.
Borussia Dortmund certainly didn’t take long to recapture their form post-hiatus, banging in four goals in their first game in weeks. It loomed as a possibly tricky matchup against the dangerous Schalke 04 after a long break, but Dortmund’s young guns were ready to fire and collected another three points that keeps the pressure on first placed Bayern Munich.
Wolfsburg are certainly no easy beats and last weekend showed they’ve still got plenty of fight in them this season. However, Dortmund are clearly the better team in this matchup and absolutely must secure all three points to remain in the title race. We expect them to get the job done, which will see them move within one point of rivals Bayern Munich.
Borussia Monchengladbach vs Bayer Leverkusen
Monchengladbach dusted off the cobwebs with a great win away from home in their first game back. They’ve been impressive all season long and showed they’re still focused with a determined win last weekend, which keeps them well and truly in the box seat for a top four finish.
Bayer Leverkusen are another team right in the hunt for a Champions League qualification spot this season and did their hopes no harm with a crushing 4-1 win on the road against strugglers Werder Bremen on Monday morning. Bayer were lethal in front of the goal right before the break and look to have retained their ruthlessness in their return.
Both of these clubs have enjoyed fantastic seasons to date and only two points splits them after 26 rounds. Monchengladbach (3rd) have the slight edge over Bayer (5th) in the table and also have the slight advantage being on their home deck, however, Bayer were superb last time out and in a genuine 50/50 contest, they look to be the best play here.
