Esports Betting Tips: Friday, May 8th

May 8th 2020, 5:25am, By: Michael Lee

Another great night of esports action coming up this Friday night and into Saturday morning! Not only does the Call of Duty Florida series kick off in the morning but we have some best bets from the CS:GO and DOTA2 titles below!

Esports Betting Tips: Friday, May 8th

Royal Never Give Up vs Invictus Gaming

OGA Dota2 PIT 2020 Online: China

After suffering a humiliating 0-2 defeat against PSG.LGD in round two of the upper bracket, Royal Never Give Up will look to redeem themselves in round one of OGA Dota PIT 2020 Online: China lower bracket fixture, where they will clash with Invictus Gaming. RNG and Invictus have met twice before in April, with RNG coming out ahead 2-1 at CDA League Season 1, only to lose their second meeting at the end of April (2-1) at DPL-CDA Professional League Season 1. Despite the 1-1 head-to-head record, however, RNG are entering this match as heavy favourites, which is surprising to me.

I would be fine with RNG being priced at slightly lower odds, but 1.54 makes completely no sense to me. The fact that Invictus already defeated them little over a week ago is a strong indication they can do it again and since IG are on a 5-1 run in their last six matches played, I have no doubt they can push RNG to their limits and force a three-map series.

Copenhagen Flames vs FaZe

CS:GO ESL One: Road to Rio – Europe

After winning three out of their last five matches, Copenhagen Flames are playing much better than most of the people were expecting them to. They picked up wins against c0ntact, North and Movistar Rides, while dropping only one map against c0ntact in their opening match. Although they have lost against GODSENT and G2, CPH managed to steal a map off both and to be honest, the Danes even had chances to win both of these matches. Unfortunately, they were a bit too slow out of the gates on some of the key maps. As for FaZe, they are ploughing through the ESL One: Road to Rio – Europe, winning against North, G2, Movistar Riders, mousesports and GODSENT, while only dropping maps in their opening fixture against North and later against Movistar Riders.

Safe to say that both of these two teams will be coming into the match in good spirits and with no previous matches between them so far, it makes little sense to have Faze Clan priced so low. They might be on a roll, but I see no reason to have CPH priced as such massive underdogs in an online match. The value lies on CPH Flames, who look good enough to take at least one map of Faze.

Gen.G vs Cloud9

CS:GO ESL One: Road to Rio – North America

The semifinals are finally upon us, with Cloud9 trying to uphold their status as favourites against an on-fire team Gen.G. Cloud9 have defeated four out of six teams they have played so far, including Orgless (who were just about to disband), Evil Geniuses, Gen.G and Envy. They, however lost to Triumph (1-2) and 100 Thieves (0-2). Gen.G are entering this match with a similar record in their hands, as they have won four matches out of five played. They bested 100 Thieves, Triumph, picked up a forfeit win against Orgless and edged past Evil Geniuses.

It makes zero sense to me to have Cloud9 priced as favourites coming into this match. Sure, they might have defeated Gen.G in their last two meetings, but most of the maps were incredibly close and could end either way. Gen.G showed their true quality against some significantly stronger teams (100T and Evil Geniuses), so there is no reason to believe they can't defeat Cloud9. Value on Gen.G!
