Horse Racing Tips: Sunday, April 12th
Moruya Race 2 - (Market)
(11) Shelby Sixtysix has only been to the races once, that was in a Wagga maiden that looked harder than what he faces here. There was support for him that day at double figures in, he began well and took the sit behind the leader. He had a good run in transit and angled around the leaders, hit the line well into second but just found one better. The beaten favourite out of that race has since come out and won its maiden, so the form looks good enough back to this type of maiden. Well drawn, stepping up a furlong in trip, he should be able to get a gun run on the speed and be very hard to chase down. Loks a great each-way bet to nothing, I expect that he will be backed.
(11) Shelby Sixtysix E/W
$6.50
Moruya Race 3 - (Market)
(4) Boom And Zoom has come back well this prep, he placed at two in a row at Canberra at big odds before going to the Sapphire Coast last time. They didn’t miss her in the betting either, she was backed in from black odds to red figures on the soft track. She had the perfect sit behind the speed, eased around them in the straight and won comfortably. She rallied when the second horse loomed, they put a gap on the rest of the field. The fourth horse across the line that day was beaten almost 5 lengths and has since come out and won a maiden. Always hard to step up from maiden to a Class 1, this looks one of the easiest they could have found for her. She gets out in trip by a furlong and will just need cover early to use that good turn-of-foot she showed last start. I don’t expect that she will be starting any shorter than the $4 currrently on offer.
Stawell Race 1 - (Market)
(3) Hasslefree has been to the races three times for two placings, the only time he didn’t place he had plenty of excuses and hit the line hard to run fourth. He was very heavily backed at Pakenham late last start, had a good run in transit and was entitled to win up along the inside but stuck on well in what was a much harder maiden than this. He comes back in trip, should be mid-field and hooking wide, look for him to finishing over the top late in what is a pretty weak maiden.
