Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, March 24th
Geelong Race 1 - (Market)
(2) Assets had three runs at her first prep, they were all on the synthetic track leading into the Winter of 2019. She did show some tactical speed through those starts but not a lot at the back-end. She was sent to the paddock and resumed here after having 39 weeks off. There was a little support for her at the double figure odds having her first start on the grass, she was just off mid-field in the run before easing wide and running on well into second. I expect that from the good draw she will settle handy here and be better for that run. Looks a great each-way bet.
Geelong Race 5 - (Market)
(1) Cernan is a lightly raced 4YO only having his fourth start. He won his maidne back in August on a heavy track at start two on a heavy track, he went from a mile on debut to the 2000m to win that maiden. He was sent to the paddock and resumed at Cranbourne off a 30-week break. He was wide without cover early in the race before slotting in mid-field. He got very wide and hit a flat spot into the straight but once balanced up again late he was good through the line. He was clearly looking for further, gets out to the 2200m for the first time but it looks right up his alley. Just needs cover early and you should see him making a long-sustained run. I expect that he will start shorter than the current $7.50 quote.
Coffs Harbour Race 4 - (Market)
(6) Mystic Splendour has had two runs back this campaign, she wasn’t suited over the 1000m when resuming, got a mile back but there was a lot to like about how close she got late after getting wide in a race that has produced two subsequent winners. She then was again at her home track at Tamworth and was very flat after getting a mile back and wide. The key here is that she gets out to the 7 furlongs, drawn barrier one I expect that she will be a lot closer in the run and may even try to lead? Has placed at 2 of 4 on a slow track, if the inside isn’t off then she should run a race.

Rockhampton Race 1 - (Market)
Just the four 2YP’s to go around in the first and the early betting tells us that there are two that should be in the finish. I am declaring (1) Sing For Violet as my best of the day and can’t see her starting in black figures. She was runner-up to the other fancy (3) Aleysa’s Dream when resuming after giving her a start but running on, she then went Rocky and sat outside the speed and was way too good. The small field should suit and she should be within striking distance, hopefully she can control the race from outside the speed. Look for her to put the pressure on around the bend and be too good.
