Horse Racing Tips: Friday, March 6th
Newcastle Race 3 - (Market)
A 900m scamper and (1) All Stand is going for 5 wins on the bounce. He has won at Muswellbrook, Grafton, Walcha and then last start at Scone. He is a speed machine, has led in all four of those wins but does come back to the 900m. There are some quick horses engaged here, if he can find the front again, they will struggle to run him down. He handles the wet, five wins in a row would be a magnificent training effort, regardless of track/trip/class.
Newcastle Race 7 - (Market)
The feature of the day is the Newcastle Newmarket worth $165K. A really good field has assembled for the G3 event, settling on the former WA trained galloper (3) Special Reward now with the Kris Lees yard. He has only had three runs since coming East, two of them this campaign. He resumed at Randwick as favourite, had his chance after leading but fade late into second, there was a big gap back to third though. He was then at Randwick again at G3 level, had the cold sit on the leader before easing three-wide at the top of the straight. He quickened nicely and found the front late. He was threatened close to the line but stuck on well. Drawn well with Avdulla sticking, up in trip he will be very hard to run down if he lands on the bunny.
Cranbourne Race 4 - (Market)
(1) He’s Run Away is clearly the most experienced horse in the field lining for start number 8. He resumed at Benalla two and a half weeks ago. He was solidly supported as the second favourite, settling a little worse than mid-field. He was held-up at the top of the straight before getting out prior to reaching the furlong pole, ran on hard to be beaten a length. He stays at the 1200m, he settled a lot closer at his only other second-up run and placed. He placed at one of two when on a heavy track, he looks to have come back well.
Dubbo Race 1 - (Market)
(11) Mathematics is a 5-start maiden that has had two runs back this time in for the Denham yard at Wyong. He resumed at Scone in a harder maiden, was stuck 4-wide no cover the duration and stuck on well to place. It was a great effort after a torrid run. He then went to Tamworth on a soft track again, was poorly away and nearly threw the rider. He was never really in the race and flat after the poor start, well beaten but still running fourth. He has the wide draw here but has shown he can handle the wet tracks and wide runs, he really looks suited back in this grade. Greg Ryan sticks with the ride, let’s hope he is positive early.
