Horse Racing Tips: Thursday, March 5th
Port Macquarie Race 6 - (Market)
(6) Tigeen was formerly trained by Matt Cumani before going to the paddock and being transferred to the Kris Lees stable. She had 30 weeks off before resuming on the inner track at Newcastle, was solid enough in the betting in this grade around the 5/1 mark. She was worse than mid-field in the run and took a while to wind-up but really knuckled down late to score. She draws out again but if she gets any cover at all stepping up in trip, they will struggle to hold her out with that run under her belt.
Port Macquarie Race 7 - (Market)
The speed looks to be hot here coming from the outside, (4) Senatorial should spend nothing early and let those carving over to make the race for him. He won his maiden at Taree three starts back and then made it two in a row at the same track with a win at his first attempt out of that grade. Last start he travelled to town for a Highway, he settled well back in the run on the fence and produced the best last 600m of the race to run into third. He drops back a stack in class here and should accelerate too quickly for his opposition when asked.
Kyneton Race 1 - (Market)
(10) Tereras has only been to the races once, that was a Benalla maiden back in September where she was easy in the betting after opening short. She was a mile back in the run and never got warm, she was then sent straight to the paddock. She ahs had a couple of jump-outs in preparation for this, I was most impressed with the most recent of these at Sandown. She was only fairly away but mustered good speed to lead out wide, she was never asked the question and stuck on for second when the winner was pushed right out. A replay of that jump-out can be found here. She looks a big improver after the time off.
Pakenham Race 4 - (Market)
(2) Answer Me Hussy debuted here at Pakenham against the boys two weeks ago. She was single figure odds and had a nice run in transit, she railed into the straight and chased hard to run second beaten half a length. She maps beautifully again here and has the draw to have all the options early. She comes back against the girls and would only need to repeat that debut run to be racing out of maiden class next start.
