UFC Fight Night 169 takes place out of Chartway Arena, Virginia, and is headlined with the Flyweight title fight between Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo. The card is a bit of a quieter one away from the title fight but with five consecutive big fight cards ahead of us we cannot complain. We will delve into some fights that while containing relatively unknown fighters, still provide us with intriguing fights.

Joseph Benavidez vs. Deiveson Figueiredo
While Flyweights don’t gain the same interest of other divisions, it still is a title nevertheless. With Henry Cejudo vacating, the Flyweight title is for the taking. Below Cejudo has been the three challengers to the title in the form of Jussier Formiga, Joseph Benavidez and Deiveson Figueiredo. With Benavidez knocking out Formiga in their last fight that knocked him out of immediate contention, but it must be noted that he beat Figueiredo in only March last year in what was quite a dominant decision victory.
So onto the fight between Benavidez and Figueiredo. Benavidez for mine is the more dangerous striker, with rare knock out power for the Flyweight division and with a win against Cejudo on his record he must come into this favouring his chances. Figueiredo could not have been more impressive in his last fight but Benavidez has the stronger striking technique and good enough wrestling to keep this off the ground. For that reason, I am siding with Benavidez to outpoint Figueiredo and potentially get the late finish on his tiring opponent who has never fought five rounds.
Felicia Spencer vs. Zara Fairn dos Santos
Felicia Spencer should walk through Zara here as simple as that. Felicia Spencer beat Megan Anderson in dominant fashion, submitting her in the first round before being beat by decision by Cris Cyborg. Her opponent, Fairn dos Santos, lost her UFC debut by submission to Megan Anderson. Fighting doesn’t take place on paper but it may as well do here. Spencer is just the much stronger fighter in all facets and has a huge advantage on the mat. She wins this without too much trouble and justifies why she is the biggest favourite on the card.

Marcin Tybura vs. Sergey Spivac
These are two men at opposite ends of their career, and Tybura has been struggling massively of late. He has been knocked out in three of his last four fights with his sole win being over the ageing Stefan Struve who to put it into perspective has recently lost to Arlovski and Rothwell. Spivac may still have a lot to learn but he should be able to put away Tybura without too much hassle and I am shocked he is not a larger favourite here.
Luis Pena vs. Steve Garcia Jr
Let me start this by saying I am really high on Luis Pena and truly believe he has some big things ahead of him. Pena lost his last fight by split decision to Matt Frevola where he was admittedly not at his best but will look to bounce back here. His opponent Garcia Jr has had serious problems making weight which had previously cost him a UFC contract, and comes into this in the unfamiliar situation of being the smaller man. He also will fight on just five days’ notice as he replaces Alex Munoz. Pena’s grappling is awkward yet elite as is his striking and with Garcia having problems previously staying away from the cage, he is in for a horror night here. Pena gets the win in dominant fashion and he is one to keep an eye out for as I believe he will be surging up the ranks and can be set for a big name fight at the back end of 2020.
