Horse Racing Tips: Tuesday, February 25th
Bendigo Race 2 - (Market)
Really keen to take on the Gai/Bott runner (1) Equities here. He had four runs over two preps in NSW to start his career, showing the customary stable speed and really had his chances. He placed on debut but was well beaten at the other three, he resumes here off an eleven-week break. Lombardo (4) is a Mick Price debutant, the son of I Am Invincible has had two jump-outs this time in, the latest at Caulfield was very good. He jumped well, basicallpy just sat glued to the outside fence and was under a stranglehold all the way to the line whilst others insie him were feeling it. A replay of that jump-out can be found here.
Bendigo Race 3 - (Market)
It looks a two-horse race on paper between (10) Greydotcom and (11) Scriba and I think the betting will reflect that as well. I am sticking with Scriba, he has been runner-up at his last two and has shown versatility. He settled closer last start, loomed up to win at the 100m mark but just found one better. The race has proved a good form reference with the winner racing well at his latest start in much harder grade and two other horses coming out and winning their respective maidens. Greydotcom has the awkward inside gate but did show a lot of improvement getting out in trip last time. He made a long run after being well backed from double figures in and stuck on well. He is certainly the danger, the betting late will be most intriguing.
Bendigo Race 7 - (Market)
(6) Zupasize is a Kylie Vella trained gelding having his second start. He debuted in a Warracknabeal maiden back in late August and was backed as if there was no settling, starting deep in the red. HE was mid-field, held-up for a long way when the runs came before finally getting out at the furlong and drove hard to score. It was a super win when nothing much went right. He has been at the official trials at Geelong back in January but I was keen to zone in on the jump-out at Camperdown earlier this month. He was mid-field camped behind the kleaders, was stoked up early I the straight and I loved the way he attacked the line. The stablemate that won that jump-out leading all the way has since come out and brained them at Bllarat on Sunday by as far as you can kick your hate. A replay of that jump-out (heat 2) can be found here.
Tamworth Race 4 - (Market)
(1) Mbappe has to take the step put of maiden grade into a Class 1 but he couldn’t have been more impressive the way he won here at career start number two. He was eased at the start, last three-wide no cover when they settled and a mile off them. Came very wide approaching the turn and ran on hard, hitting the front inside the furlong and ran away for the softest of wins. That was on a soft track and comes back on top of the ground here, if he can stay in touch early, he should be finishing better than any. Would love to see some serious money for him.
