A-League Round 14 Betting Tips
Wellington Phoenix vs Western Sydney Wanderers
Saturday, 2:45pm AEDT
The Phoenix enter this as one of the form sides of the competition having won five and drawn three of their past eight matches. This all came after losing each of their first four, which shows the huge strides they’ve already made this campaign. Last weekend they were winners at home against the Mariners, defeating them two goals to one.
The Wanderers were unable to win last weekend when they fell at home by two goals to one against a determined Roar outfit. They were winners two starts back on the road against Adelaide United, however, that was their lone win from their past five games, which has seen them fall down to eighth spot on the league table.
This is an interesting fixture the way the bookies have priced it. Wellington are clearly the form team of the two having gone unbeaten in their last eight, while the Wanderers have lost five of their last six. For us, the bookies are too slow to adjust to the form of the Phoenix and we’ll be backing them in to continue to get the job done at home.
Perth Glory vs Adelaide United
Saturday, 7:30pm AEDT
Perth Glory were the club with the bye last weekend, which probably came at the wrong time considering they have won all four of their games prior. Their more recent win came against the Mariners on the road (0-3), which has seen them climb into third spot on the ladder and regain the title of contenders.
Adelaide United started off the season in red hot form but have since fallen into a bit of a slump. They were losers last start against the defending champs in Sydney FC, which was their fourth loss from their past five games. Once considered a genuine threat, the Reds are now among the pack fighting for a finals berth in 2020.
This is another fixture that would’ve been an interesting one to price. Again, Perth Glory come into this with four wins on the spin compared to Adelaide United who have lost three in a row. We’ll be siding with the form side at home once again and are more than happy to back Glory into a price around $1.70 to win this.
Central Coast Mariners vs Melbourne Victory
Sunday, 6pm AEDT
The Mariners tried their best to get back onto the winners list in Wellington last weekend, but it just wasn’t to be as they fell 2-1 to the Phoenix. It’s been a really tough ask to keep faith in the Central Coast based side in recent seasons, and it looks to be another season where they’ll be left wanting.
Melbourne Victory fans were outraged with the start that their club made to this campaign, however, back to back wins looks to have renewed some faith in their aspirations for the current season. They were emphatic winners at home last weekend against the Jets (4-0), which has seen them get within goal difference of the top six heading into Round 15.
The Mariners have shown signs of improvement and have already matched their win total of last season. On the other hand, Victory got off to a slow start but look to be building with back to back wins coming in. We’re keen to back form in all weekend and will finish off by making a play on Victory to continue to surge up the ladder with a win away from home.
