EPL Matchday 20 Betting Tips
Newcastle United vs Everton
Sunday, 2am AEDT
Newcastle United come into this off a disappointing 4-1 loss to Manchester United last time out. Despite the loss, the Magpies have won five of their last nine league fixtures and have been one of the more impressive teams in recent weeks. They’re currently 10th on the table and are currently well ahead of expectations.
Everton were 1-0 winners in their midweek clash against Burnley, courtesy of an 80th minute strike by Calvert-Lewin. The Toffees are now four games unbeaten in the league and perhaps more impressively, they’ve only conceded four goals during that span, which has helped them climb to 13th spot on the table.
This is an interesting fixture that we believe the Bookies have got wrong. Yes, Everton have been the better of the two clubs for quite some time, however, they’ve been extremely inconsistent this season and should in no way be paying $2 on the road. On the other hand, the Magpies have picked up 10/12 points from their last four home games and are in some pretty hand form, making them a good value play here.
Watford vs Aston Villa
Sunday, 2am AEDT
Watford managed to claim a crucial away point during their trip to Sheffield midweek. Prior to that they were impressive winners at home to United in what may be the turning point in their season. The Hornets have had a horrible first half of their campaign and come into this clash sitting in second last on the table.
Aston Villa were winners in their clash with fellow battlers Norwich in midweek. It was their first league win in December and could prove to be an important one. Villa have had a few bright moments this season, but for the most part it’s been a difficult season back in England’s top tier and you feel it may get even harder in the new year.
18th vs 19th is what we’re dealing with here, so don’t expect anything pretty if watching this fixture. In saying that, we do believe Watford have a great opportunity to build on some better results recently and can claim a crucial three points at home here. Aston Villa have lost four of their past five and are generally poor on the road, so we’ll be with the Hornets here.
Norwich City vs Tottenham Hotspur
Sunday, 4:30am AEDT
Norwich come into this off a costly 1-0 loss away to Aston Villa in midweek. The Canaries have now won just one of their last 14 league fixtures and now find themselves in last spot on the table, and it’s tough to see them turning it around anytime soon with the way they’re playing.
The Spurs bounced back from a disappointing loss to Chelsea two starts back to defeat Brighton 2-1 at home midweek. It was an important win for Mourinho’s men who have now won three of their past four league fixtures to sit in sixth spot on the table.
Norwich are the worst team in the league and should be at much greater odds to deliver a win against top six opposition. The Spurs should be somewhere around the $1.40-50 range, so we see them as a decent value play this round.
