A-League Round 11 Betting Tips
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Western United
Friday, 7:30pm AEDT
The Wanderers started the season in fine form with three wins from their first three games, however, the wheels have well and truly fallen off since then. They’ve now lost five on the spin and come into this clash with some serious pressure on themselves and desperately need to get back on the winners list.
Western United started the season off in similar fashion to their opponents by winning three of their first five games. They then went on to lose three on the spin but have since recovered, winning each of their last two. Their most recent 2-0 victory over the Roar was very impressive and saw them jump into third spot on the ladder.
Western United are playing the much better of these two sides at the moment and should be going in as favourites, even if they’re on the road. It’s hard to see the Wanderers winning on current form, so we’re more than happy to oppose them in this fixture.
Wellington Phoenix vs Sydney FC
Saturday, 2:45pm AEDT
Wellington Phoenix’s three-game winning streak came to an end last weekend when they were held to a nil all draw by Melbourne Victory. They had plenty of chances in the second half and really should’ve capitalised when they were playing an opposition with only 10 men on the pitch. Despite their inability to win last weekend, Phoenix are now five games unbeaten and are playing pretty consistently.
Sydney FC notched win number eight for the season when they dispatched the lowly Mariners last weekend by one goal to nil on their home deck. It wasn’t the sexiest of performances by the Sky Blues, but all that matters to them during the regular season is ticking over the win column, which they seem to do quite well…
Although Wellington are a better outfit this year than seasons gone by, you still can’t go past Sydney on current form. They’ve only dropped games in one of their nine games to date and have been sensational on the road. We’re keen to be on them at anything over $2.
Melbourne City vs Melbourne Victory
Saturday, 5pm AEDT
Melbourne City were embarrassed two games back when Perth Glory thumped them 4-0 on their own deck. However, they were quick to bounce back in a big way with a terrific win over the Jets on the road last weekend. Jamie Maclaren has been in unbelievable form up front for City and now has 10 goals from just six starts.
Melbourne Victory were unable to find a way back onto the winners list last weekend when they shared the points with Wellington Phoenix. In a way, it wasn’t the worst result considering they were playing with one less on the pitch for the best part of 30 minutes. However, draws are not what’s needed for a Victory side that has won just two of their 10 league matches this campaign.
Melbourne Derby’s are usually a great watch, but that wasn’t the case earlier this season when they played out a goalless draw. A lot has happened since then however, and City are having a far better season than their rivals. We can’t foresee anything other than a City win in this Derby.
