EPL Week 5 Betting Tips
Liverpool vs Newcastle United (Saturday 9:30pm AEST)
There’s been no carry over effect from a disappointing finish to the 2018-19 season for Liverpool. They’ve stormed out of the blocks with four wins from four matches and sit clear on top of the table. The Reds attack has looked as potent as ever with an average of three goals per match, while their defence has let in just three goals in total this season.
Newcastle got off to a horrible start to their campaign with two losses from their first two starts. However, they’ve picked up four points from their two fixtures since, highlighted by their massive 1-0 upset win away to Tottenham. The Magpies will be looking to do something similar when they visit Anfield this weekend.
Liverpool have beaten Newcastle in each of their last three EPL meetings and have beaten them to nil in three of their last four meetings at Anfield. With how solid Liverpool are at the moment, we expect this trend to continue.

Manchester United vs Leicester City (Sunday 12am AEST)
It’s been another less than ideal start for Manchester United, who already find themselves playing catch-up to their main rivals in Manchester City and Liverpool. The Red Devils got their campaign off to a brilliant start with a 4-0 win over Chelsea, but since then they’ve managed just two points from three fixtures.
The Foxes are one of three sides that remain undefeated heading into matchday 5, which is a great result for the 2015-16 champions. Wins over Bournemouth and Sheffield and draws with Chelsea and Wolves have them sitting in third spot on the table with eight points.
While Leicester can boast the better form of the two sides coming in, we expect a big response from United after their week off. They’re far too talented to stay in this rut and we feel $1.80 is a nice price for them at home.
Manchester United Win
$1.80
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Chelsea (Sunday 12am AEST)
The Wolves have had a frustrating start to the season and remain alongside Watford as the only team yet to record a win. They’ve had a relatively difficult schedule and have managed just three draws and a loss from their four matches. They have, however, managed to defeat Torino in the Europa League Playoffs in-between mixed EPL results, which will give them a bit of confidence.
Chelsea have been arguably the most disappointing team this season, which has left some real doubt surrounding to competency of new coach Frank Lampard. The Blues have managed just one win from four games and made matters worse when they blew a 2-0 lead to the newly promoted Sheffield United last time out.
Even though they’re without a win in the league through four games, we believe that Wolves will be the more confident of the two sides on Saturday night. They’ve got the quality in their XI to mix it with the big boys and have a great opportunity to kickstart their season with a win at home against a shaky Chelsea outfit.
