The event starts on the 13th May to the 25th, the event is held just outside Denpasar in the town of Keramas. Keramas is now a popular spot in Bali and has been for sometime, the break is a fast powerful right hand reef break that can hold relative large swells.
WSL Corona Bali Protected Betting Tips
After a five year hiatus the Bali pro jumped back on tour in 2018 and was taken out by Brazilian Italo Ferreira, in a one sided affair against Tahitian Michel Bourez.
After missing most of last year, John John Florence looks like he is back to his best after a semi final finish on the Gold Coast and then defeated Filipe Toledo at the Rip Curl Pro at Bells beach in the previous contest. Florence was a no show in the Bali event last year because of injury but he is running favorite to take out this event.
Bali may be the event that kicks start Julian Wilson’s year off. He is currently is 23rd position in the overall rankings and hasn’t been able to get pass the heats in the first two events. Wilson’s 2019 start looks similar to his 2017 season when he failed to reach the finals till CT event number five, then ended up having a stellar second half of the year in which he finished third overall in the standings. I expect to see him in the finals in Bali.
Kolohe Andino has been putting in the hard work over the last few seasons and he is looking like he’s ready to find the consistency needed to take the next step to defeat the likes of Florence and Medina. Currently in sixth position in the standings he had a semi final finish on the Gold Coast then bowed out early in the round of 32 against youngster Jacob Willox. Andino is a solid ambitious surfer and is capable of anything.
All the talk has been about Florence and Ferreira throughout the last couple of months but i still believe Gabriel Medina is still the best on tour. He always seems to keep up that consistency on tour with the ability to make the finals. He was knocked out by Florence at Bells in one of the best quarter final contests of the year so far and now is resting in fifth position. Bali truly suits his style as he is one of the best barrel riders in the business. Look out for Medina to bounce back and quite possibly take out this event.
With the event just around the corner the swell looks like it’s gonna hit the shores of Keramas on day one and two of competition. So tune into all the action at the Corona Bali Protected on the 13th of May.
