Race 2
This will probably be the most anticipated race of the day with the short-price favourite Chenier headed for bigger and better thi9ngs, but I think there is one here that can give him a real fright and looks an absolute moral to place. Surreal Step has been to the races twice, he was good when running on from the back on debut to place but just looked to run out of condition late. He then went to the Valley at Listed level, jumped well but was snagged back. Zahra was looking for runs from about the 600m mark and was bolting, all the time the leader/winner was kicking away to win comfortably. He finally eased around them when shuffled back to last at the top of the straight before rocketing home to just miss a place. The form guide reads him beaten 6.9 lengths, forget that. They obviously have an opinion of the winner as she heads to Sydney this week for the Percy Stakes, back on the bog track here and out to 1400m, Surreal Step looks a lock to run a place, and will give the favourite a fright. I will be having something small the win as well.
Race 4
It looks a very open race on paper with plenty of speed, they should go hard early and sort out their positions and love the way that Jentico maps. She has good tactical pace to take up a spot, get cover and finish too well. She was won her first two career starts before being well backed in a Listed race at the back end of the Spring, she was only fair in that but it was much harder than what she faces here. She had excuses when resuming in a similar race, but looks much better suited here second-up getting out in trip with the soft run. She looks a great bet if better than each-way odds.
Race 6
Heir To The Throne resumed here three weeks ago on the inner track, he was worse than mid-field before hooking wide and running on hard in a race where the leader kicked three or four lengths clear and held on to win. That horse has come out and won again in SA on Saturday, last time Heir To The Throne was second-up he settled a lot closer, expect that to happen here from the good draw. Blinder looks the only danger, he was good in the Bendigo Guineas when resuming and it should be a good tactical battle early. Backing Zahra over Dunn to win that one.

Race 4
Kylease is a filly that is certainly on an upward spiral. She narrowly lost on debut on the heavy track at Hawkesbury back in late January, then came here and bolted in to win her maiden. She was given three weeks off and went to the Kenso track in a BM70 against the girls, was well supported at about flip of the coin odds and led all the way for another comfortable win. She is drawn wide here but the Gosford track is very fair from the 1200m start, it is at least a 700m run to the first and only turn, with her natural speed she will be up eye-balling, even if she has to sit parked, she can accelerate well at the top of the straight. On pace runners that kick upon straightening here at Gosford rarely get run down.
Race 5
Mangione has not won out of maiden grade yet, but he looks to have some upside taking on the older horses here. He narrowly missed at the mile at Newcastle two back then stepped up to the 2000m in the Tulloch Stakes las t time and was beaten under 5 lengths. He was mid-field and held-up at a vital stage in a race where the leader won, this is a huge drop in class from that. The two horses that ran the Quinella that day have since come out and finished in the same positions in the Derby last weekned, he loses nothing with McDonald going on and maps to get a very soft ruin. The inside was the place to be at the Gosford meeting last week.
