BENDIGO RACING TIPS
RACE 3
A field of 15 two-year-old's is never easy to find a winner in but if Groot runs up to his debut performance he'll take some beating here. He was less than a length off I Am Immortal in the Blue Diamond Prelude. While that form didn't hold up in the Diamond itself, it's a good reference for a lower level juvenile race like this. He's had seven weeks off since that run and has trialled well in between. Drawn poorly but Meech will likely roll forward on him. If she can get across without using too much energy, he'll be very hard to beat in this. One to include at odds is Emconi Star. Her first two runs in Adelaide last preparation weren't bad at all and the form wasn't terrible either. Won a trial leading into this first up run and at big odds you could certainly do worse.
RACE 5
Pretty keen to back Miss Siska here, who makes her stable debut for Grahame Begg after previously being trained by Tony McEvoy. Begg has a knack of getting these horses to improve under his care and it won't take much improvement at all for her to be very competitive in this. Last time we saw her she ran 2nd in Group 2 company over 2000m. First up at 1400m might be short of her best, but she did win first up over 1200m last prep and went on to win over 1400m, 1500m and 1700m. That included a win over Naantali, and her 2nd placing in the Matriarch Stakes was behind Kenedna - very strong form for a race like this. I think she'll take plenty of beating from the inside draw.
RACE 8
Another really competitive race but I'm keen to stick with Outrageous here. I was kicking myself for not backing him first up when he led all the way to win at Flemington. That was his first start as a gelding and he should be able to go on with things today. The form out of that race will hold up and he's drawn well in barrier 7. Blinder returns first up today with the blinkers going straight on for the first time. I think he's a pretty decent horse and that is a signal of intent in my opinion. He will need luck from barrier 2 in a big field but at $9.00 he looks decent odds.
