A-League Round 11 Betting Tips
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Melbourne Victory (Saturday 7:50pm AEDT)
Our first play in Round 11 comes from the Wanderers vs Victory game on Saturday night. This is the second time these teams have played this season, with the first ending in a 4-0 to Victory in a dominant display.
The Wanderers season went from bad to worse last weekend when they were comprehensively beaten two goals to nil by Melbourne City. They just haven’t looked confident all season and will need to get their act together sooner rather than later if they’re to feature in the finals. As it stands, they’re in eighth position with just nine points from 10 games.
Melbourne Victory would be a little disappointed with their performance last time out where they drew with Phoenix at home. It was the second draw in as many games for Victory, but they’re still undefeated in eight games now. They remain in second position on the ladder and three points behind Glory in first.
We believe anything around the $2 mark for Melbourne Victory is value here. They’re in much better touch than their opposition and should get the job done, even if they’re on the road.
Melbourne Victory Win
$2.10
Melbourne City vs Newcastle Jets (Sunday 5pm AEDT)
Our second play from Round 11 comes from the Sunday twilight fixture between Melbourne City and the Newcastle Jets. Again, this is the second time these teams will have played this season. The first match was won 3-0 by Melbourne City at home.
Melbourne City have had decent enough form recently with three wins and a draw in their last five games. They’re coming off a really nice 2-0 win away against the Wanderers last weekend, which will give them a boost of confidence when they return home on Sunday. City have worked their way up to fourth spot on the ladder and are two wins behind league leaders Perth Glory.
Newcastle Jets left two valuable points behind in their last time out against Brisbane Roar. They’d be extremely disappointed not to win that one against the bottom dwellers, and it’s only going to get harder this weekend. The Jets are currently in seventh spot with 12 points from 11 games.
The Jets will be playing a quick turn around here after their 2-2 draw against the Roar earlier in the week. We’re not quite sure how the bookies have started City above even odds here considering that, as well as the form factor. We’re happy to back them in into anywhere around $1.80 in this one.
Brisbane Roar vs Perth Glory (Sunday 7pm AEDT)
Our final play from this weekend comes from the Brisbane Roar vs Perth Glory fixture. These teams played in November last year with Glory winning that game by two goals to one at home.
Brisbane Roar have had a really tough season by anyone’s standards. They’ve lost five of their past six games and have only won one game from 11 starts. It’s hard to find positives from their performances, but at least they found a point from their most recent game against the Jets.
On the other hand, Perth Glory have been superb this season and currently sit on top of the ladder, three points clear of Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC. Glory have lost just one of their 10 games this season and look to be one of four teams vying for the title in 2019. They bounced back from their loss against Sydney to thrash the Mariners 4-1 in their last outing, and will be looking to take advantage of another poor team on Sunday.
Perth Glory look like the value play of the week here opening at $2.50 at most bookmakers. We expect them to get thumped into $2 around kick off, so we’re very happy to take them early on.
