A-League Round 6 Betting Tips
Adelaide United vs Brisbane Roar (Friday 7:50pm AEDT)
Adelaide United are coming off a team lifting win over Phoenix last weekend in Wellington. They went a goal down early, but were able to hit back just before the half and then pile on two more in the second period to win 3-1, thanks to Striker Ken Ilso’s brace. That win takes their season record to 2-2-1, which has them in fourth position on the league table.
Brisbane Roar bagged themselves a really nice win over Melbourne City in their Round 5 match. It was Adam Taggart who stole the show, scoring both goals as the Roar proved too good. That win was their first of the season and takes them inside the top five with a record of 1-3-1. They now face a much tougher challenge on the road this weekend, but will be full of confidence from their last outing.
Although Brisbane are coming off their best game of the season, we just can’t see them being able to withstand Adelaide’s formidable offense on the road here. Adelaide are one of the best teams in the competition and should take care of business.
Melbourne Victory vs Western Sydney Wanderers (Saturday 7:50pm AEDT)
Melbourne Victory look like the team to beat once again this season. They’re coming off a fantastic 2-1 road win against Sydney last weekend in a Grand Final rematch. Marquee recruit Keisuke Honda was again the hero, scoring a 71st minute winner. They now sit in second position on the table with a 3-0-2 record, but are still four points behind Perth in first.
The Wanderers were really disappointing last weekend and let us down in what we thought would be an easy home win for them. Instead, they fell to the Jets by two goals to nil after countless missed opportunities in front of goal. They’ve now fallen down to eighth position on the table with just one win from their five games so far.
We’re surprised to see Victory come into this as near even odds on the back of their recent form. They looked far better than the Wanderers last weekend and we expect them to go to another level at home here, making this excellent value.
Wellington Phoenix vs Perth Glory (Sunday 5:00pm AEDT)
As mentioned above, Wellington Phoenix took and early lead against FFA Cup winners Adelaide United, but were unable to sustain it for long and eventually lost by two goals. Alarm bells are starting to ring for Mark Rudan’s men, who now have just one win from five games and a shocking -6 goal difference. They’ll be desperate to take advantage of home advantage this weekend against the travelling Glory.
On the other hand, Perth Glory have been magnificent this season and are undefeated and on top of the league standings after five games. Their 4-1-0 record has them four points clear of Melbourne Victory in second place. It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Glory in their latest outing though, as they were made to wait until stoppage time to a record a 3-2 win over the struggling Mariners. They’ll be hoping to make a better start this weekend to avoid similar circumstances.
Impossible to take anything other than a Perth Glory win here. They’re undefeated and are coming up against a Phoenix team that just conceded three goals on their home deck last weekend. We expect Glory to have far too much firepower in this one.
