We’ve gone through all three meetings and selected a few of the races to bet in below!
SANDOWN HILLSIDE TIPS
RACE 7
Only one race I’m keen to bet into at Sandown today. Three main standout chances. (8) Illumicon was an impressive winner first up over 1000m at this track before a puzzling ride brought him undone last start. Luke Currie took him to the lead in the middle of the Flemington straight before going sideways in order to find the outside rail, giving away plenty of ground and resulting in a 9th placed finish. He’s much better than that and Craig Williams takes over the ride today as the horse drops back to midweek grade. If he gets a nice enough run from the barrier, he should be very competitive. The value looks to be (6) Tahi who produced a good run first up down the Flemington straight in that same race as Illumicon. He was only beaten 1.5L into 4th and looks suited second up here. $7 appeals. (9) Memento won well first up and I’d expect her to be in the finish again.
Value: (6) Tahi $7.00 BetEasy
WARWICK FARM TIPS
RACE 1
(1) Adana had good support first up at Randwick but only managed to beat one runner home. He pulled up with a little issue and has since been back to the trials, which he won. Gets the blinkers applied for the first time here and can bounce back. I think he’s a horse that’s got a fair bit more to give when he puts it all together.
RACE 5
Two that appeal here. (1) Amanito was well supported first up over 1400m at this track and finished off solidly from the back of the field. Second up and up to 1600m today with Angland keeping the ride. Has won his only start at this track and distance and I don’t think there’s a huge amount to beat in this field so the $6 seems reasonable. (7) Excelsior has been running consistently in Saturday grade this prep and drops back to midweek company today. Barrier 1 should give him the chance to go close once again at $7.50.
Value: (7) Excelsior $7.50 UBET
BELMONT TIPS
RACE 2
There’s been a good betting move for (9) Tramantone here and when the money comes for this stable, it’s generally pretty reliable. The horse has had one barrier trial where it finishedm 4th and comes straight to the races on the back of that. Slight query that William Pike rode it in the trial but jumps off today, however he rides all the Peters horses so it’s no real surprise to see him on the favourite instead here. Tramantone should get a good run from the barrier and given the weight of money, should be right in the finish.
RACE 5
(4) West Fifty Fourth resumed with a great run over this track and distance on heavy ground a couple of weeks ago and comes here second up today. He won second up last prep and given his good first up run this time in, you’d expect him to be very hard to beat today. Looks clearly the one to beat.
