2018 AFL: Daily Fantasy Tips for Round 16

AFL Fantasy Tips

Some selection issues and a monster 195-point score by Tom Mitchell, who wasn’t in our team last week, meant that we had a disappointing Saturday in Draftstars last week. We’ll be looking to find some good value this week as we preview the four game Saturday slate in Round 16 and provide our fantasy tips for the $50k guaranteed Draftstars tournament below.

Remember, along with Draftstars, there are also some great tournaments at PlayON this weekend, so be sure to throw your hat in the ring at both sites!

Defenders: Jack Trengove, Jason Johannisen

Trengove came in for his first game for the Power last weekend and impressed in limited time in the midfield. He racked up 21 touches and eight marks to score 92 points. Should only improve as he gets more fitness under his belt and at just $9,900, will likely be the most selected player at Draftstars this Saturday.

Johannisen was decent last weekend against the Cats, racking up 72 points on 23 touches. Needs to tackle more and mark the ball more to have a really effective scoring day, but the amount of easy ball his teammates give him off half back always makes him a threat for a big score.

Midfielders: Tom Mitchell, Lachie Hunter, Christian Salem, Bayley Fritsch

Mitchell was absolutely dominant last weekend, racking up 195 points on 50 touches, 9 marks and 13 tackles for the best fantasy performance by any player in 2018. Is probably the only lock for 120 points in the league. Easy pick.

Hunter has been great for the Dogs, particularly since the injury to Jack Macrae forced him into a more permanent midfield role. Averages over 100 points so far this season and has a good matchup against the Hawks this weekend.

Salem and Fritsch are purely matchup selections. Melbourne should have their way with a sans Fyfe and Sandilands Freo team on the Saturday. Expect these two boys to be good value.

Forwards: Charlie Dixon, Sam Gray

Opting for the Port Adleaide duo in the forward line this weekend as I think the match over in Adelaide could be a high scoring game. The Saints opted to play a free flowing style against Melbourne last weekend and with no Jake Carlisle or Nathan Brown in the backline due to injury, there’s a chance that Dixon gets off the chain on Saturday.

Ruck: Oscar McInerney

We went pretty heavy in the midfield this week so we are opting for a cheaper ruck option in McInerney. He scored 63 against Fremantle in the Lions big win last weekend, kicking 2 goals and claiming 6 marks. Could have another big impact against the bottom of the ladder Blues.
