Round 10 of the AFL offers a great slate of games and Saturday in particular should be an exciting one with four games on the schedule. PlayON are once again hosting some fantastic tournaments for the Saturday slate, including a $1500 guaranteed tournament as well as some qualifier tournaments for August’s monster $100k AFL Super Contest!
As usual, we are back with another fantasy team of the week for the Saturday tournaments at PlayON below!
Defenders: Jake Lloyd, Jordan Ridley
Jake Lloyd was the best player in fantasy last weekend, racking up 163 points on 41 touches and 15 marks. He’s the obvious premium choice in defence this weekend as he comes up against the Lions. Brisbane might be exciting going forward, but they don’t apply a great deal of pressure when they don’t have the ball, so Lloyd should run rampant in defence this weekend.
Jordan Ridley came in for his first game as the Bombers went with a youth approach on the weekend. He was great in the win over the Cats, racking up 89 points on 25 touches and 7 marks. If he can get anywhere near that score again he’ll be great value this weekend.
Midfielders: Patrick Cripps, Luke Dunstan, Stephen Coniglio, Ed Phillips
Cripps has been putting forward his case as the most dominant midfielder in the AFL over the last few weeks with some dominant performances for the Blues. Cripps was arguably the best player on the ground in a 109-point loss to the Demons last weekend, racking up 31 disposals and 9 tackles for 140 fantasy points. Easier matchup for Cripps this weekend against the Cats makes him a no brainer.
Dunstan and Coniglio have both been putting in great performances of late and should both rack up plenty of tackles this weekend as they come up against tough opposing midfields. I expect 100s from both of them here. Ed Phillips is another value pick on Saturday afternoon after scoring 86 and 56 in his first two games. With just a $6.5m price tag, any score in between his first two would be value.
Forwards: Lance Franklin, Darcy Lang
Lance Franklin is the player that will make or break us on Saturday afternoon. Set to line up for just his second game since returning for injury, Franklin should still have relatively low ownership. Scored 112 last week and has the potential to tear apart this Brisbane defence.
Lang has played just two games in 2018 so far and turned in two great performances for someone just $7.2m. Scores of 77 and 78 show some consistency and another score around that mark will be perfect.
Ruck: Shaun McKernan
Hard to look past forward Shaun McKernan after two monster games in his first two contests of 2018. Scores of 102 and 100 for a player with a $7.4m price tag who can be selected in the ruck is massive. Could be the most selected player this weekend.
