AFL Women's Round 6 Betting Tips
Adelaide v Fremantle (Friday, March 9, 7.05pm AEDT)
The Crows kept their Grand Final hopes alive with a big win over the Blues. They won by 35 points and that was without Erin Phillips for most of the match. Her status will be something to monitor before this clash. The Dockers lost at home in Round 5 and they’re now 6th on the ladder. They probably can’t make the final but they’ll be looking to build form for next season with an upset against the Crows. Adelaide are the better attacking side and they should start well against the Dockers. The story of the season has been the Dockers slow starts and that won’t help against the Crows. However, they do finish off matches well and I can see value in the either team to win by under 15.5 points. Erin Phillips will likely miss this match and that’s a huge blow for the Crows. This match is also at a neutral venue which won’t favour either team.
TIP: Either team under 15.5 points at Sportsbet ($1.91)
Brisbane vs Collingwood (Saturday, March 10, 4.35pm AEDT)
The Lions are coming off a close loss against the Demons and will be looking to win their last home match of the season. Brisbane are second on the ladder by percentage so this is an important match. Collingwood batted against the Bulldogs but went down in the end by just 8 points. They’re finishing strong the season strongly and will be looking for an upset. The two sides played in a 27-23 scoreline in 2017 so this should be a close one. Brisbane have the best defence in AFLW but they can struggle to put away sides. For the Magpies, they’ve kicked 40+ points in their last two matches and they should be able to cover the 13.5 line offered by CrownBet. They will miss skipper Steph Chiocci after she was suspended for two matches. But the team is playing well enough to cover her absence.
TIP: Collingwood +13.5 at CrownBet ($1.90)
GWS v Western Bulldogs (Saturday, March 10, 7.10pm AEDT)
The Giants are still alive for the final but they’ll need to upset the top side. They sit fourth on the ladder with 10 points and will need help from other sides in the run home. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have dominated in 2018 with a 4-1 record. They own the best attack in the league and can seal their spot in the final with a victory. In this matchup last season, the Bulldogs thrashed the Giants 52-20. The Bulldogs will likely have enough points in them once again to beat the Giants. The Giants defence will have a hard time stopping the Bulldogs momentum so I’ll take the Bulldogs to cover the 7.5 line.
TIP: Bulldogs -7.5 at CrownBet ($1.90)
Carlton vs Melbourne (Sunday, March 11, 4.35pm AEDT)
In the last match of Round 6, the Demons need to beat the Blues at Ikon Park and I can’t see otherwise. Melbourne defeated the Lions last week in a close contest. They now sit equal second on the ladder and will look to continue the Blues woes. Carlton were once again poor last week in a large loss against the Crows. They’ve now lost three matches in a row and their season is over. In those three losses, they’ve scored just 6 total goals. In fact, their highest score this season is just 30 points against the Giants. They easily rank last in AFLW for points scored and now also rank last in the league for points allowed. So in the end, the Demons will take advantage and cover the line.
TIP: Demons -8.5 at William Hill ($1.90)
