We are 1-1 in EPL betting tips from last weekend with one match still to play as Arsenal and Manchester City square off Friday morning to conclude the round. That doesn’t stop us from looking ahead to Week 29, however, as we preview some of the key games of the weekend and give our betting tips below.
EPL Week 29 Betting Tips
Liverpool vs Newcastle (Sunday 4.30am AEDT)
Liverpool were fantastic in their win over West Ham last weekend. They downed the Hammers 4-1 as the trio of forwards in Firmino, Salah and Mane all found the back of the net. The Reds have lost just one of their last ten games and now sit third on the EPL table as the tight race for the final three spots in the top four heats up.
Newcastle fought back after some early season relegation trouble and now sit in 15th place on the EPL table. They are still far from safe, however, just two points clear of Swansea in 18th position. They held on for a tough 2-2 draw with Bournemouth last weekend but will get a much harder task as they face the Reds in Week 29.
Newcastle have shown that they compete with the top sides this year, especially after a great win over Manchester United a few weeks ago. However, Liverpool have looked too dominant going forward lately, and we expect them to be too strong here. Liverpool have kept just 11 clean sheets this season, which is the fewest of any of the top five clubs. We think Newcastle score here but Liverpool secure the win.
TIP: Liverpool to win and both teams to score - $2.40 at Sportsbet
Manchester City vs Chelsea (Monday 3am AEDT)
As of writing, Manchester City are yet to play their Friday morning clash against the Gunners. However, it might not matter for the Citizens. They have been absolutely outstanding all season, and whether it’s the EPL, English League Cup or Champions League, they’ve barely put a foot wrong. They currently lead the EPL table by a whopping 13 points over their cross town rivals, and the only thing motivating them now has to be the most points in a season record, which is currently 95, held by the Chelsea 04-05 side.
Chelsea have been luckless of late. They outplayed Barcelona in their Champions League tie last week but could only muster a 1-1 draw and were arguably better than Manchester United on the weekend, only to fall 2-1 to the Red Devils. They seem to have more continuity going forward since the addition of Olivier Giroud from Arsenal and Eden Hazard and Willian have both been on a tear recenty.
Manchester have been faultless throughout the season, but they will be playing their second game in just a few days when they line-up against Chelsea. The Blues will be desperate for a win here as they look to stay in contention with the top four. We not certain that they’ll get it, but we love them with the double chance here.
TIP: Double chance (Chelsea and draw) - $2.30 at Sportsbet
Crystal Palace vs Manchester United (Tuesday 7am AEDT)
While Palace currently sit just out of the relegation zone in 17th place, they have the same amount of points as Swansea in 18th place and have an extremely tough next month, with Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool over their next four games. They have lost their last two games in a row, although they were respectable in their 1-0 loss to Tottenham on the weekend.
Manchester United secured a massive win over Chelsea on the weekend. After being outplayed for the majority of the game, they were able to come away with a 2-1 win which keeps the clear of the three teams hunting their second place on the ladder. Star recruit Alexis Sanchez is still finding his feet with the Red Devils, but looks to be improving and should get another chance to grow his continuity with the squad against Palace.
The Red Devils start as $1.50 favourites here, and while Palace were okay against Tottenham on the weekend, their home form hasn’t been great this season, winning just 2 of 14 games at Selhurst Park. We think Manchester secure a comfortable win here.
TIP: Manchester United -1 - $2.50 at Sportsbet
