We hit on 2/3 bets in last weekend’s Hyundai A-League tips with both winners coming at odds of over $2.20. We’ll look to continue our profitable form this weekend as we take a look at some of the key matchups in Week 13 of the A-League below.
A-League Week 13 Betting Tips
Melbourne Victory vs Newcastle Jets (Friday 7.50pm AEDT)
The Melbourne Victory might have reached a turning point in their season last weekend as they defeated their cross town rivals, Melbourne City, 1-0. A Mark Milligan penalty in injury time gave the victory a deserved win, after looking the better side for most of the game. They’ll look to make it three wins on the trot this Friday night as they face off against the in form Newcastle Jets.
The Jets have won their last three games in a row and are the highest scoring team in the competition with 29 goals through their 12 games. The absence of star striker Roy O’Donovan didn’t hinder their performance on the weekend, downing Western Sydney Wanderers in a dominant 4-0 performance. The Jets are now six points clear in 2nd place and are looking odds on to make their first finals appearance since the 2009-10 season.
The Victory are undefeated in their last six games against Newcastle, however, it’s a completely rejuvenated Jets side this year and while the Victory might have found some form in recent weeks, there are still holes that need to be filled on offence and defence. The bookies haven’t shown Newcastle much respect this season, and have the 2nd placed team as underdogs for this away clash. Melbourne were pretty lucky to come away with a win against City on the weekend, and this game should be even tougher. Back the visitors to at least secure a result here.

Sydney FC vs Perth Glory (Saturday 7.50pm AEDT)
Sydney FC claimed their sixth win in a row on the weekend, downing a lacklustre Wellington Phoenix side 4-1 away from home. The win came as no surprise to anyone that has remotely followed the A-League this season, with the 10-1-1 Sydney team taking on the bottom of the table Phoenix.
Should be a marginally harder matchup this weekend as the Sky Blues take on Perth Glory. The Glory currently sit sixth on the A-League table with a 5-1-6 record through their 12 opening games. They have won their last two against arguably the worst two teams in the league in Wellington and Central Coast.
Sydney FC have taken maximum points in all of their last seven games against the Glory. They start as hot $1.40 favourites for this clash, which is completely understandable given they’ve only lost one game in almost two years. Back the Sky Blues to win and cover a 1 goal handicap here.

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Melbourne City (Monday 7.50pm AEDT)
After what could be considered as a pretty successful campaign last season, the Western Sydney Wanderers have completely fallen away this year. They currently sit third to last on the A-League table with a 2-5-4 record. One thing they did carry over form last year, however, is their tendency to draw games. With five draws already on the season, the Wanderers are on pace to break their record set last year, and most of it can be attributed to not being able to find the back of the net regularly.
Melbourne City might have lost to the Victory last weekend, but still boast some really massive wins so far this season. They should welcome leading goal scorer, Ross McKormack, back into the side this week, bolstering what is already a very strong front three.
Melbourne City have scored just four combined goals in their last four games against the Wanderers but with a new look attack this season, they should improve on that mark. They failed to find the back of the net against the Victory last weekend, so look for them to bounce back away from home.
TIP: Melbourne City to win - $2.50 at CrownBet
