2-2 in last weeks EPL betting tips for another breakeven week with some good wins on both Everton and Chelsea. We will look to go at least one better this weekend as we preview some of the key games in Week 16 of the English Premier League and offer our betting tips below.
EPL Week 16 Betting Tips
West Ham vs Chelsea (Saturday 11.30pm AEDT)
West Ham host Chelsea in the opening game of the round Saturday night. The Hammers were impressive against the league leading Citizens last weekend, even taking a 1-0 lead into the half time break before Manchester City fought back to win 2-1. Key forward Javier Hernandez could return to the fold this weekend, after missing the last few games with a thigh injury.
Chelsea were also impressive last weekend, defeating Newcastle 3-1 in the early Saturday night game. Star midfielder/forward Eden Hazard seems to be hitting his straps after returning from injury about a month ago. The Belgian has already scored five goals and added another two in the win against Newcastle.
West Ham bounced back after an ordinary stretch of games last weekend but still couldn’t secure a result, and they’ll get arguably the next hardest task in English football as they face the Blues. The Hammers havewon just two of their last 22 Premier League games against the Blues, losing 16 in the process. Even away from home we think the Blues should be too strong here.
TIP: Chelsea -1 - $2.30 at Sportsbet
Tottenham vs Stoke (Monday 2am AEDT)
Tottenham haven’t recorded a win in their last four matches and will be desperate to get back on the winners list here as they host Stoke on Sunday morning. After being early contenders for the title, Tottenham have fallen to sixth on the EPL table after their last month of play, 18 points behind table leaders Manchester City.
Stoke have had a bit of a sluggish first half the season, with just a 4-4-7 record. They recorded a good win over Swansea at home on the weekend to snap a four game winless EPL streak but face a much harder opponent here.
To say Tottenham have had the wood over Stoke in recent history would be an understatement. The Spurs have won their last three games over Stoke, all with a score line of 4-0. Stoke have only won one of their last seven away matches at Tottenham and we can’t see this game going against history.
TIP: Tottenham -1 - $1.75 at Ladbrokes
Liverpool vs Everton (Monday 1.15am AEDT)
Liverpool have been playing out of their skin lately and are coming off a monster 7-0 win over Spartak Moscow midweek in the Champions League. The offence of Liverpool has been firing on all cylinders with the trio of Mohamad Salah, Coutinho and Roberto Firmino all scoring in the Champions League win. They also downed Brighton and Hove Albion 5-1 in the EPL last week, so should be playing with an aggressive mindset here.
After a horror few months, Everton have bounced back in a big way to win their last two games in dominant fashion. They decimated West Ham 4-0 two weeks ago before defeating Huddersfield 2-0 in Week 15. It’ll be a tough stretch for them this week, with the Liverpool game on Monday morning to follow a Friday morning Europa League game against Cyprian team Apollon Limassol.
The Merseyside Derby always provides exciting and competitive matches, and this one promises to be another one with Everton hitting form recently. However, Liverpool’s offence has looked ridiculous through their last month and they have the wood over Everton in recent history, going undefeated in their last 14 games in all competitions against Everton.
TIP: Liverpool to win and both teams to score - $2.70 at Ladbrokes
Manchester United vs Manchester City (Monday 3.30am AEDT)
It’s a top of the table clash to close out the round and to make it even better, it’s the Manchester Derby. Manchester City continued their unbeaten season on the weekend, defeating West Ham 2-1 but lost their first competitive game in over a year as they went down 2-1 to Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Thursday morning.
With the two surprising results, some vulnerability might have crept into the ranks at Manchester City, which will provide the Red Devils no better motivation. Manchester United defeated CSKA Moscow in their mid week clash after a great display against Arsenal on the weekend. The Red Devils were thoroughly outplayed by Arsenal, conceding 33 shots to just 8 but were able to walk away with a 3-1 win thanks to a brilliant game by David de Gea.
This is the one we’ve been waiting for since the start of the season, and through 15 rounds its still incredibly hard to get a read on how it will play out. Both teams have been fantastic and while City sit eight points clear on top of the table, this will be a great chance for United to make some ground back. We are predicting the home underdogs to get it done here at great odds.
TIP: Manchester United to win - $3.30 at CrownBet
