Decent bounce back week for us in Week 7 of the EPL as we hit on 3 of 5 bets to have a profitable week. We are now just a total of .2 units down on the season, which is surprising considering the horror run we had through weeks 3-6. We’ll look to continue the turn around this week as we preview and give our betting tips for Week 8 of the EPL.
EPL Week 8 Betting Tips
Liverpool vs Manchester United (Saturday 10.30pm AEST)
The match of the round comes at the early time slot this week with Liverpool and Manchester United squaring off at 10.30pm Saturday night. Liverpool were less than convincing against Newcastle in their last game with a 1-1 draw while Manchester United continued on their dominant ways, beating Crystal Palace 4-0.
United are now 6-1-0 and have allowed just 2 goals through their first six games. They are tied for the table lead with Manchester City and will want to continue their winning ways here with City hosting Stoke this weekend. The Red Devils could still be without star midfielder Paul Pogba, however, they have arguably been better in his absence with Marouane Fellaini stepping into the midfield to create a formidable defensive tandem with Nemanja Matic.
Manchester United haven’t allowed a goal in their last three Premier League clashes and while Liverpool have been good in games against weaker teams, they were beaten convincingly against Manchester City a few weeks ago. They get the home field advantage here which gives Manchester United some real value here.
TIP: Manchester United to win - $2.80 at Ladbrokes (2 units)
Crystal Palace vs Chelsea (Sunday 1am AEST)
Could it be the worst start to a Premier League campaign in history? Crystal Palace are yet to score a single goal throughout their seven games so far let alone register a point, and they get another really tough matchup here against Chelsea, albeit at home.
Chelsea put up a good fight against Manchester City in their last contest but ultimately went down 1-0 to the title favourites. They are still just in contact with the two Manchester teams with their 4-1-2 record but will welcome the easier stretch of games they have starting with Crystal Palace.
Palace have lost by at least two goals in four of their seven matches so far and have been dominanted by the best clubs in the league, going down 5-0 to Manchester City and 4-0 to Manchester United in their last two contests. We expect Chelsea to win this one by at least 2 goals here.
TIP: Chelsea -1 - $2.15 at Sportsbet (1.5 units)
Manchester City vs Stoke (Sunday 1am AEST)
Manchester City will look to continue their dominant ways when they face off against Stoke this weekend. They have looked absolutely unstoppable of late, winning their last eight contests in all competitions. Before their 1-0 win over Chelsea in their last Premier League feature, their three previous games in the EPL came saw them go 3-0-0 with a goal aggregate of 16-0 against Liverpool, Watford and Crystal Palace.
They are the most attacking team in the league and also one of the most astute in defence, scoring 22 goals on the season so far and letting in just 2. Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus all sit in the top six goal scorers on the season so far. Stoke on the other hand have scored just 7 gaols on the season so far and are struggling without forward Marko Arnautovic in attack this year.
Manchester City are a force at the Etihad and throughout ten games this year in all competitions, they still remain undefeated. Stoke can grind out wins with the best of them but wont be able to fight out a 1-1 draw or 1-0 win against the scoring power of Man City here.
TIP: Manchester City to win to nil - $1.95 at Ladbrokes (1.5 units)
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Everton (Sunday 11.30pm AEST)
After a somewhat surprising start to the season, Brighton have come back to earth a touch after losing two of their last three matches. They have been blessed by the schedule to open the season but their run starts to get harder now with a match against Everton on the weekend.
Everton have been less than convincing to open the season with a 2-1-4 record, however, they have already had to play against tough opponents in Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United. Because their record has been lacking they probably haven’t been getting the respect they deserve from the bookies and at $2.35 to beat Brighton this weekend we think they represent great value.
TIP: Everton to win - $2.35 at CrownBet (2 units)
Leicester City vs West Brom (Tuesday 6am AEST)
Much like Everton, Leicester have had a difficult run in their first seven matches with games against Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea and Liverpool to open the season. They have been competitive in nearly all of those matches and shown that they can score with the best of them. They are a much better side than their 1-2-4 record suggests and have a winnable home game against West Brom next Tuesday morning.
After starting the season with two wins, West Brom are winless through their last five Premier League games and have looked pretty lacklustre in their last two matches, one a 2-0 loss to Arsenal and the other a 2-2 draw with Watford. Leicester need only a few home wins in the next month which gets significantly easier scheduling wise to be right back in the mix.
