UFC 168 kicks off this Sunday from Las Vegas with a couple of really interesting Main Event matches that have built plenty of hype, which is exactly what you want for a pay-per-view.
Weidman vs Silva
In the Main Event Anderson Silva gets a rematch against his conqueror Chris Weidman for the UFC Middleweight championship.
In their last match, a lot was made of Silva’s showboating which eventually led to him getting clocked on the chin to give Weidman the victory. However Silva has done that many times before, and always came out on top, so why was Weidman different? Can Silva really turn the tables?
No doubt Silva is one of the greatest fighters to have lived. He held the Middleweight title for seven years, but is he past his prime? Weidman is a strong, young stallion who has a fantastic all around game that will not be easy for Silva to overcome. Watch for Weidman's striking game to again be important in this one.
The money has come for Silva who is currently $1.65 on Betfair and $1.55 on most other sports betting websites. However we suggest that’s pretty s
hort, and the value here is with Weidman who is currently $2.50 on Betfair.
This should be a fantastic fight whichever way it goes!
Rousey vs Tate
The other Main Event of the card is the Women’s title match between champion Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate. These two have serious bad blood that goes back to their time in Strikeforce.
Since then Rousey has elevated the Women’s title to new heights to be recognized on the main UFC pay-per-view card. Rousey is 7-0 with all of her victorious coming in the first round from her brutal armbar submission hold. She is a relentless powerhouse, with her Judo skills proving far too good for her opponents so far.
Tate has fallen into this spot by default after losing to Cat Zingano in the number one contender's match, only for Zingano to then get injured. Tate has some tenacity and will be desperate to take it up to Rousey but the champion should again be far too strong.
There isn’t much value in the price of $1.18 on Betfair for Rousey to win, but there are a few other betting options to consider. Rousey to win by submission is $1.37 on Betfair provides a little more value, or you could take $1.80 on Centrebet for Rousey to win in Round 1 – something she has done in each of her seven career MMA fights to date.
You may also like to lob something on Sportsbet on the market of “Which UFC 168 fight will finish the quickest?” with the $2.82 on offer for this match looking like a viable play.
