A-League Round 7 Betting Tips
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Melbourne City (Friday 7.50pm AEST)
The Wanderers return to their home soil for the first time in three weeks and during that two game road trip they earned just a draw. They were disappointing last week against Victory but there was a feeling they were going to suffer a big loss after a tough road trip to Perth and then being on the road against Melbourne. The side isn’t do much in front of goal but where they really need to improve is defensively. The three goals they conceded on the weekend has made them have the equal worst defence alongside the Glory and that could be an issue for them this weekend against a strong attack.
City put on a show in the first 30-minutes of their match with the Jets last week as they raced to a 2-0 lead. However, the side went into cruise control and they could have easily drew or worse, lost the match. They can’t afford to fall into a slump like this against a stronger side in the Wanderers this weekend but we are predicting City to keep their foot down.

Perth Glory vs Adelaide United (Friday 10pm AEST)
The Reds earned a draw on the weekend against Brisbane Roar but the side is still stranded on the bottom of the table. They are after their first victory of the year and they would need another miracle – the one they had last year –be competitive this season. The turn over of players is still hurting the side and they are struggling to find combinations up front.
Meanwhile the Glory suffered an embarrassing loss on the road against Sydney FC but no side is looking like they will stop the Sky Blues at the moment. The Glory had a great chance early on but that was as good as it got as errors at the back crippled their opportunity to earn points on the road. They will want to turn that around this weekend as it is their defence that is holding them back. The side is sitting in fifth spot on the ladder but they have the equal worst defence in the league with the Wanderers and have conceded on 13 occasions in just six matches. The Reds won’t offer as much in attack as the Sky Blues and we are predicting the Glory to earn the win on home soil.
TIP: Glory @ $2.05 with Ladbrokes
Wellington Phoenix vs Melbourne Victory (Postponed)
This match has been postponed until later in the season.
Brisbane Roar vs Sydney FC (Saturday 7.50pm AEST)
The Sky Blues continued their perfect start to the season as they earned their sixth straight victory. The side has scored 17 goals this season which is almost at an average of three goals per game while they have conceded only two goals during that period. The side has a great formation and they are incredibly hard to break down defensively whilst they pounce on the break and can move the ball forward very crisply. They have great personnel and depth and Graham Arnold has done a great job acquiring a top squad and we believe they will be too strong this weekend despite being on the road.
The Roar will have the home field advantage and they have played a lot better at home this season. However, the side has been inconsistent and has struggled to fire in attack, despite the fact they find themselves in third place on the ladder. The side is averaging just one goal a game and we don’t believe they will have the capability to create opportunities against Sydney FC.
TIP: Sydney FC @ $2.30 with William Hill
Newcastle Jets vs Central Coast Mariners (Sunday 5pm AEST)
The Mariners slumped to a poor loss on the weekend against the Phoenix as they never looked in the contest despite being against a weaker outfit that was missing five players due to international duty. It is worrying to think what the score line would have looked like if those players were available as the Mariners continue to show their inexperience and inability to be consistent and create opportunities.
Meanwhile the Jets were able to fight back after a slow start. City definitely switched off but it showed a lot of character for the Jets to not just lie down on the road and down by two goals early in the contest. They grabbed one back and continued to push for another but eventually their hard work wasn’t paid off. If the Jets show that type of spirit and put that effort into the match then they will come away with the victory on their home soil.
TIP: Jets @ $2.00 with Sportsbet
