The Perth Racing Carnival is only a week away which sees the running of the TABtouch Masters consisting of the Railway Stakes, Winterbottom Stakes and Kingston Town Classic over the course of three weekends.
As a lead up to the Masters we have a solid 8 race card which includes the Colonel Reeves Stakes, the RJ Peters Stakes and the Champion Fillies Stakes, all at Group 3 level.
We have betting tips for every race on the card this Saturday, November 12th including our best bet for the day at Ascot!
Race 1 – Evolution AV Plate 1100m
SOUNDCHECK won a recent trial in nice style winning by 2 lengths. Gets the blinkers on for his debut today and draws nice enough. William Pike has ridden him in both his trials so you can guarantee he would have been on today if he wasn’t suspended. Paul Harvey is a good replacement and I expect him to start shorter than the $3.10 fixed available.
Tip: Soundcheck
Race 2 – Tony Cook handicap 1600m
A few of these have form behind the likes of Scales of Justice and Tradesman which is good form to have. Hard to split Star Exhibit, Universal Law, Outlaw Pete and Pounamu. Going with STAR EXHIBIT who dead-heated with Pounamu last start but has the benefit of a claim today so gets a swing in the weights. Down 2kg from last start and draws the inside barrier here so should get a great run and be in the finish.
Tip: Star Exhibit
Race 3 – Eskimo Joe Performing Next Saturday Handicap 1200m
Hard to make a case for anything to beat STATE SOLICITOR here. This horse has won 5 of its 6 races and returned in emphatic fashion last start to beat Lenience home by 2 lengths. Goes up 2kg but doubt that will matter, just needs a good ride from barrier 11. Very short at $1.65 but should be too good if he doesn’t encounter trouble. LENIENCE could be the value at double figure odds. He’s run 2nd at his last two starts and he might give State Solicitor something to run down again.
Tip: State Solicitor
Race 4 – Network Ten Handicap 1400m
Looks like it could be another one here for Bob Peters with ASTRONOMITE. Finished 2nd in a similar race last and should be winning this with 56.5kg after the claim and barrier 1. The danger could be PINZU at $8.50 after a luckless run first up. Has a terrific record at this track and should get a good run from barrier 5. HOPETOUN has struck some great form and is another with good claims.
Tip: Astronomite
Race 5 – Breast Cancer Care WA Champion Fillies Stakes 1600m
ELLICAZOOM looks very hard to beat here on the back of her last start win over Capirinhia. That was over 1400m and they step up to 1600m, which suits Ellicazoom better based on the last 100m last start, despite Capirinha getting a 2kg weight swing in her favour today. Royal Missile can run a big race if it can settle closer than last from barrier 2, while I Am Boudica will have to go back again from barrier 12.
Tip: Elliczaoom (best bet)
Race 6 – R.J. Peters Stakes 1500m
Looks a nice race for the four-year-old SCALES OF JUSTICE who comes off a win over Star Exhibit who looks a fantastic chance in Race 2. Previous to that he got beaten a pimple by Tradesman, who was beaten less than a length by Perfect Reflection last start. Gets some weight off the older horses and looks hard to beat. They’ve come for him in the market early too so the $2.60 available may not last! The dangers look to be the Peters horses Neverland and Ideal Image (Heart Starter may have too much weight) while Respondent can also go well.
Tip: Scales of Justice
Race 7 – Heineken Colonel Reeves Stakes 1100m
Think this race shapes up nicely for VEGA MAGIC who was favourite in the Prince of Wales Stakes last start but was blocked the entire straight. That was WFA but this is a handicap so he drops from 58.5kg to 55kg, with Rock Magic having to carry 58.5kg again today. FIRST AMOING EQUALS was in a similar boat last start where he was also blocked the entire straight in the same race. Two starts ago he was beaten half a length by Rock Magic but gets a 1kg weight swing in his favour here.
Tip: Vega Magic
Race 8 – Evoke Media Ascot Gold Cup 1800m
This looks a two horse race to me with CHOCOLATE HOLIC very clearly the top pick. Won the Northam Cup over 1600m last start with ease, settling last and showing a very sharp turn of foot to win by over 2 lengths. Goes up 4kg here but I doubt that will stop him. Close to best bet of the day. DARK ALERT is the only one I can see beating him. This horse finished 5thin the Northam Cup won by Chocolate Holic but he was first up from a 253 day break. He is undefeated 2nd up and only goes up 1kg so gets a 3kg weight swing on Chocolate Holic. Should go well.
Tip: Chocolate Holic
