Bumper Group 1's in the Manikato Stakes and Cox Plate have arrived as 'The Valley' will play host to two consecutive Group 1 Spring Carnival meetings. The first of which is Friday night where the nation's best sprinters will tackle the 1200m G1 Manikato Stakes - which we offer horse racing betting tips for, along with all races at Moonee Valley this Friday, October 21st!
There is some rain due to hit Melbourne in the afternoon but the track looked a picture during the week and with the rail in the True position it should play relatively fair.
MOONEE VALLEY BETTING TIPS - MANIKATO STAKES NIGHT
Race 1 - #1 Highland Beat (Eachway) - BEST VALUE BET
Very talented horse who drops back to a grade much more suitable here. Maps to get a lovely run and doubt carrying the extra weight is much concern at all.
Race 2 - #2 Mihany
No love with the early price at $2.40 but it's very hard to tip against him. He'll cross and either sit outside of Sandhill Warrior or just in behind him. That will allow him to get that trail up and off the fence that should be the A1 ground.
Race 3 - #5 Tarquin - BEST BET OF NIGHT
He was one of the horses affected by the abandoned meeting at Cranbourne last Sunday and finds an easier race here with a bunch of country cups horses engaged. He should get the perfect run for James McDonald and looks hard to beat.
Race 4 - #1 Gabella
She is racing in excellent form and early in the prep was competing very well in much harder races than this. Not suited last time around she looks to be underrated in the market here in a soft race. We really think she can bounce back here with a positive ride from Nick Hall.
Race 5 - #6 Runson
A horse on the way up we think and he can certainly measure up in this C grade sprint affair. With some luck he should be able to sit in the 1x1 and be very hard to beat at each-way odds.
Race 6 - #7 Mr Individual (SCRATCHED)
No reason to tip against him again here. His win last time around was as tough as you'll see and can perhaps get an easier run in transit tonight. Maps well to get on the speed and slightly off the fence and will take a stack of running down.
Race 6 - #2 Rageese
With the scratching of Mr Individual it’s hard not to tip Rageese who is supremely rated against the rest of this field. Rawiller should be able to get into a handy position in running and his mount should prove too strong late. No value in the price at $2 but hard to tip against.
Race 7: 2016 Manikato Stakes - #8 Fell Swoop (Eachway)
Tricky race. Great race! Fell Swoop gets the perfect suck run in behind the speed. His record over 1200m is outstanding and you can get around double the price for him to just place as we are Chautauqua to win the race. No knock on the big grey, but just more value in this bloke to take out the 2016 Manikato Stakes.
Race 8 - #3 It Is Written (Eachway)
Smart old warrior who simply loves Moonee Valley. His first-up run was very good and prior to taht trialled liked a horse with a win in him this preparation. Will need luck but be very strong late.
