Match Preview
The Warriors were handed a rugby league lesson last week away to the Storm, defeated 42-14; two ‘garbage time’ tries only added respectability to the result. Fact is, they were outclassed and powerless to stop their opponent’s momentum. They found themselves behind 36-nil at HT and, despite winning the second half, were lucky that their opponents relaxed the intensity. They were always going to struggle with a 69% completion rate with just 47% possession. They also allowed 8 line breaks and missed 31 tackles.
The Broncos were also stunned, on the receiving end of an upset 26-16 loss to the Roosters at home. Expected to dominate their opponents, just like they did in Round 1, they continually gave opportunities away with poor options. They were their own worst enemy too with a 71% completion rate with just 47% possession. It was another example that this young, but talented team, still have a long way to improve before they are consistently competitive.
The Warriors will be hoping that their home ground advantage counts for something in this contest. Not only do they have a superior record here (57% vs 35%), but the home team has also won 5 of the past 6 meetings between these two sides. Statistically, the Broncos appear the stronger team in that their attack offers more; they average 11 points more so far this season (19ppg vs 30ppg) than the Warriors. With the same defensive average (20ppg), this game could be won in each sides ability to generate points. Unfortunately for the home side, two key omissions (Fisher-Harris and CNK) in vital positions will limit their effectiveness. The style which the Broncos play through the middle will expose their opponent’s weakness in this area and if the Warriors are not careful, a similar result to last week could be replicated.

Leg 1: Total Points Over 47.5 – despite the average total in the past 5 matches sitting at 44.4 points, the records of each team this season suggest this total will be passed with some time remaining in this match.
Leg 2: Arthars to score – he is the leading try scorer at the Broncos so far with 8 tries and proves to be a lethal threat on the left edge for his team.
Leg 3: Cobbo to score – he has the right side covered and has scored 5 tries in every manner possible. A threat anywhere, he will again want to make a statement with a strong performance.
