Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, April 19th 2025
Race 1: Midway – 1400m – 11:25am (AEST)
(3) Tenderize $6.50/$2.40: 5YO Gelding who has won 3 of his last 4 outings nd the one he didn’t win he was less than 2L off the winner. He loves the wet tracks and there is no reason he can’t continue the solid form. Value.
(7) Piraeus $8.00/$2.80: 5YO gelding who hit the line nicely last start behind Tenderize on the heavy track. The freshen up seems to have done a good job, so will be fitter again for this and gets a nice weight swing on Tenderize. Value.
(14) Engine Room $5.00/$2.20: 3YO Gelding who looks promising after being backed off the map first up and won well. Tackles tougher company now and draws a sticky gate, but looks to be a talented type. Each way price looks good.
TIP: NO BET
Race 2: Tab Highway Hcp - 1400m - 12:00pm (AEST)
(4) Ramones $13.00/$3.60: This fella had been racing genuinely up until last start where he failed to fire a shot after having a gun run. Back to a nice race and gets in well with a 2kg claim on top. Draws well and should be able to dictate to his liking. Bounce back.
(9) Win The Day $6.00/$2.30: Chasing the hattrick here. Must be respected off last starts 4.5L win. Tougher again, but looks to be a classy mare. Goes well.
(21) Acheson $23.00/$6.00: 4YO who was only 3L off them when resuming. Proven second up and a winner over this trip. Likes the wet track and can play a role here. Nash to steer boosts confidence. Blow out hope.
TIP: NO BET
Race 3: Toyota Forklifts Frank Packer Plate - 2000m – 12:40pm (AEST)
(1) Swiftfalcon $2.00: 3YO gelding who has been superb this campaign without notching up a win. He has had plenty of excuses and has had to do a lot more work then his opponents on most occasions to only be narrowly beaten. Meets easier company now and ready to win.
(4) Shangri La Spring $11.00/$2.50: 3YO Colt who was impressive last campaign and hasn’t been all that far away this time round. The stable/owners are bullish here, so watch the market.
(10) Miss Alexis $19.00/$3.60: 3YO Filly who ran on nicely last start over this trip. Draws a better gate this time and will be a lot closer. Scratched from the oaks last weekend to run here now. Must be considered.
TIP: NO BET
Race 4: Mostyncopper James H B Carr Stakes - 1400m – 1:15pm (AEST)
(1) Clean Energy $2.60: 3YO Filly who has been very honest in all three runs this prep. Deserves to be favourite again. Hit the line nicely last start when being caught wide. Draws barrier 2 and Tim Clark for Waterhouse/Bott looks dangerous. Just wins?
(3) Snow In May $9.00/$2.40: Value pick of the race who is best rated. Draws a sticky gate, but will be running on.
(4) Lilac $3.10: 3YO Filly who has form behind Lady Of Camelot and Lady Shenandoah which is pretty handy form to have. Has been getting closer with each run in. Fourth up and J-Mac gets back into the saddle who is unbeaten when on top. Hard fit.
(1) Clean Energy
$2.60 (3.5 Units)
Race 5: Catanachs Jewellers BM88 – 1200m – 1:50pm (AEST)
(3) Celui $5.00/$2.00: Terrific first up win lugging 63kg in open grade. Goes well second up and goes well on the soft track. Opened at $17. Is now $5.00.
(5) Ballroom Bella $8.00/$2.70: We backed her last start and she was gritty to win against the gents. Fitter again and is a classy type. Worth thought.
(10) Dark Glitter $27.00/$6.50: Roughie of the field who continues to mix form, but has been having a pretty handy run this time in. Group 2 win amongst those runs. Continues to be worth a small each way play with the big odds they keep putting up.
TIP: NO BET
Race 6: Myplates JRA Plate - 2000m – 2:25pm (AEST)
(2) Bois D’argent $9.00/$2.70: 8YO veteran who just continues to race well. Hasn’t been all that far away and will be hard fit now. He has a terrific soft track record racing at a 50% win rate. Loves this trip and rates well. Worth thought.
(3) Encap $4.50: 4YO gelding who is a rather genuine type and does know how to run a nice race, albeit only being a two time winner from his 21 starts. He was handy enough second up over 1500m on the wet where he hit the line nicely, but its his most recent run in the Doncaster which has steered me into this fella being a lovely pick for this race. He was midfield and met with a brick wall, but Reece Jones did a terrific job to work his way through traffic and he was slightly held up in the last 100m which was probably the difference from finishing third instead of winning. His late sectionals were electric and when you re-watch the replay, he has gone enormous. He now gets out to 2000m which looks ideal off that mile effort and he gets back to Group 3 level. Reece Jones stays on top and he draws a nice alley. Rates well and maps to get another nice tow into the race. Id be disappointed if he wasn’t in the finish. On top
(6) New Endeavour $4.40: 5YO gelding who has been good in both runs and will have plenty of admirers again here. Chance.
(3) Encap
$4.50 (1.5 Units)
Race 7: Moet & Chandon Champagne Stakes - 1600m – 3:00pm (AEST)
(1) State Visit $6.00/$2.05: 2YO Colt who is yet to miss the trifecta and has been sound in all runs. Untested on the soft, but J-Mac jumps in. Worth thought.
(7) Within The Law $5.50: 2YO Filly who has been racing very well. Lost rider two runs back, but other than that she has been terrific. K-Mac for Bjorn Baker here. Top chance once more.
(9) Spicy Lu $13.00/$3.40: Unbeaten 2YO Filly who has been winning well. This will be tougher, but has the will to win and must be respected.
TIP: NO BET
Race 8: Schweppes All Aged Stakes - 1400m – 3:40pm (AEST)
(1) Antino $16.00/$3.75: Resuming 6YO gelding who had a terrific campaign last time. He is 4 from 5 when first up and 3 from 4 on the soft track. Draws pole position and money Mark Zahra steers. If he can ping the lids he will be awfully hard to run down. Take on trust.
(2) Briasa $3.70: Tipped by us last weekend and he was sensational. Prior to that he was an absolute moral beaten, so his record should almost be untarnished if he had some more luck there. He is a serious type and will only be improving. Hard to knock.
(7) Sunshine In Paris $18.00/$4.20: 5YO Mare who I thought was sound enough when resuming over 1300m, but then got caught wide most recently which never allowed her to get into the race. Happy to forgive that. She is third up now and looks suited over 1400m. proven winner over this trip and goes well when third up. Chad Schofield has decided to remain in the saddle which boosts confidence. She rates really well and is a two time group 2 winner, so demands respect and looks to be over the odds
Also Backing: (7) Sunshine In Paris $18 (0.5 Units)
Also Backing: (1) Antino $16 (0.5 Units)
(2) Briasa
$3.70 (3 Units)
Race 9: Tab Hall Mark Stakes - 1200m – 4:20pm (AEST)
(1) Jedibeel $6.50: 5YO gelding who was terrific when resuming and then has had minimal luck in the next two at top level. Draws wide again, so will require luck, but best is good enough for this.
(5) Mazu $4.00: Hasn’t been all that far away and will be peaking now. Draws well and maps to get a nice run up on the speed. Plenty of other speedsters, so hopefully he doesn’t get softened up.
(12) Dragonstone $5.00: 6YO Gelding who was terrific in defeat most recently over this trip at Group 3 level. He meets the winner GENERAL SALUTE, but this time much better at the weights. He meets MAZU again, slightly worse at the weights, but he looked to be extending on MAZU late last time out. He draws a sticky gate today, but with the early speed on paper he should be able to slot in behind them where he will get a nice tow into the race. I am expecting a hot tempo here which will set this right up for us to be swooping late. Rock hard fit and goes well on the weather effected track. Happy to have.
(12) Dragonstone
$5.00 (1 Unit)
Race 10: Pines Pace Setters BM100 - 1400m –4:55pm (AEST)
(2) Amenable $11.00/$3.50: Terrific first up and then had no luck last start. Ran well in this race last year. Gets in nicely with Roper claiming 3kg on top. Draws well and must be considered. Over the odds?
(5) Tavi Time $6.50/$2.40: 5YO country specialist who has trialled well leading into this fresh run. J-Mac is back in the saddle and he will have plenty of followers for this. 1400m record is good and proven first up.
(7) Floating $35.00/$8.00: This 6YO needs to be considered when the track is Soft/Heavy. Prefer him a few runs in, but has trialled twice over 1000m and 1200m, so will have some kind of tank built up. Blow out hope.
