Good Friday football continues on Friday evening, as the Dolphins look to get their first win over the Storm, with the record currently sitting at 0-3. With the Dolphins sporting a two-game winning streak, including a demolition of the Panthers last Thursday night, the Dolphins should be full of confidence. Will that be enough to get by the best team in the competition? Let’s find out.

Match Preview
The Dolphins come into round 7 off the back of two solid wins, beating the Titans comfortably in round 5, 36-10, before hammering the four-time Premiers last week 30-12. First year Head Coach Kristian Woolf finally seems to have the squad playing together, and the results have been there for all to see. Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow was back in full flight last week, running for 256 metres, scoring three tries, whilst creating two line-break assists and breaking the line once himself. If the Hammer is playing well, the Dolphins are a chance.
The Storm meanwhile just keeps on keeping on. After a blip on the radar in round 4 against the Dragons, the Storm have looked unbeatable, spanking the Sea Eagles and Warriors in successive weeks, scoring 40+ in both. There was a slight scare last week as Jahrome Hughes went off at half-time, but the news coming out is that he will be fit to play this week. Who can beat this team in 2025?
These sides met twice last year, with the first clash coming in round 16 at Suncorp Stadium, with the Storm going off as 6.5-point road favourites, with both teams missing their Origin contingent. The Storm won 30-24, but there’s nothing really to take given the makeup of both teams. They met again in round 25 at AAMI Park, with the Storm this time closing 16.5-point home favourites. The Dolphins were never in it, as the Storm ran in nine tries to one, walloping the Dolphins 48-6.
This week, the Storm were 12.5-point favourites on the look ahead, re-opening at the same number. The Storm have been bet slightly out to 13.5, but the market clearly is rating the resurgence of the Dolphins, or maybe they just can’t quite catch up with the Storm. I make the Storm 15.5-point favourites and believe anything under 16 is a play on the Storm. There’s sure to be a letdown after last week for the Dolphins, and this is not a good spot for a letdown.
As for the total, it opened 48.5 and it is still at this mark, however it looks like it may well be on the way up before kick-off, with the over juiced heavily. My fair total is 50, so I really don’t see a lot of value in the total here, and I’ll stick with backing the Storm until they prove me wrong.

Leg 1: Storm (13+) – As above, the Storm to win big here.
Leg 2: S Faalogo (1+ try) – Faalogo played on the wing when these teams met last year, scoring two tries. The electric fullback couldn’t be better placed then on the end of this backline.
Leg 3: C Munster (1+ try) – With Hughes potentially playing more of an organising role with his shoulder niggle, expect Munster to take the line on more than usual.
SGM Odds: $6.25 at BoomBet
