Ladbrokes Park Hillside will host late afternoon racing on Wednesday with eight competitive races on the program. The first race starts at 3:05pm (AEDT) but our first of three bets comes up in Race 2 with the Robbie Griffiths trained gelding getting the nod in his 14th start. Gallopers will continue to race on a Good surface.

Sandown Racing Tips: Wednesday, March 5th 2025
Race 2: Tobin Brothers Celebrating Lives Handicap - 3:40pm (AEDT)
(5) Mr Magnus drops back in distance but Ethan Brown will know he has a powerful finish on him which should be suitable by the long Hillside straight. He is better on a Dry track which he gets again and his last race with 60kg on his back was strong (2nd) and he keeps that weight.
(1) Speir should lead this field and he was very tough at The Valley two starts back when 3rd after leading. He backed that effort up by winning a weaker race at Ballarat last start (led) and he steps up in class again here. He is the current fav but at the time of typing, hasn’t got a jockey yet which is a slight concern.
(8) Babalola may be better on a wetter track. Likes this distance though and he might get to double figures. Gets a 2kg claim for Jett Stanley who is riding well.
(5) Mr Magnus WIN
$3.80 (1 Unit)
Race 3: Sportsbet Get On Handicap - 4:15pm (AEDT)
(5) Tonkin should win this on the back of two in a row during January. On January 8 she led all of the way at Mornington when $1.40 and after that she led all of the way at The Valley when on that occasion she smashed them by 4.5L. Both of those wins were on Dry tracks which she gets again here but leading all of the way at Hillside will be harder. She does look as though she has lengths on these though and the $1.75 looks right.
(1) Lunar Module loves this distance having won 4 of 5 over the trip. Gets an extra kilo here so will carry the top weight of 61kg.
(3) Cheerstothat has drawn inside and will get a cushy run in about 4th, possible leaders back in the run. Two starts on Good tracks for unplaced runs though.
(5) Tonkin WIN
$1.75 (2 Units)
Race 8: Sportsbet Race Replays Handicap - 7pm (AEDT)
(2) King Zephyr looks good here after winning well from off the speed at Pakenham last start. He is strong at the end of his races and he likes Good tracks. He is fitter now and will get back again but you would think that the long straight should suit him here, especially if they go fast up front. Has a win and a third to his name over the distance and from barrier 2 he won’t have to cover too much ground to make his run.
(13) Royal Invader was beaten a head at Pakenham last start and Stockdale stays on. She is third up here and probably fully fit now and is in a leading stable.
(1) Liberami has drawn wide in 16 but this is one of the easiest races that he has raced in. Carries 62kg here but is 1 from 1 over the distance and the Griffiths stable is in form.
(2) King Zephyr WIN
$2.60 (2 Units)
