PGA Tour Farmers Insurance Betting Tips
Thursday 23rd - Sunday 26th January, Torrey Pines Golf Course
We are three tournaments into the 2025 PGA Tour season, and already some familiar names have picked up wins in Hideki Matsuyama, Nick Taylor and Sepp Straka. Players will now travel to the world famous Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego for the Farmers Insurance Open.
The Field
With a lot of the top line players in the world still occupied with the recently launched TGL, the field is a little light for this one, but still boasts a few big names. Swedish star Ludvig Aberg tops the betting markets, closely followed by the likes of Hideki Matsuyama, Sungjae Im, Will Zalatoris, Jason Day, Tony Finay and Max Homa.
Past winners of the Farmers Insurance who will be looking to add another trophy to the case this week include Mattieu Pavon, Max Homa, Luke List, Justin Rose, Jason Day and Brandt Snedeker.
The Course
Torrey Pines North, Par 72, 7,258 Yards
Torrey Pines South, Par 72, 7,765 Yards
This year, the event will be hosted once again by both the North and South Courses at Torrey Pines, considered among the top golf courses in the world. Players will alternate between the two courses on Thursday and Friday, while those making the cut will compete for victory on the South Course during the final two days.
Originally crafted in 1957 by William P. and William F. Bell, both courses have seen separate, modern renovations by esteemed designers Rees Jones and Tom Weiskopf. The South Course, where the winner will complete three out of four rounds, spans a challenging 7,700 yards, demanding strategic course management.
Success on the South Course requires precise long iron play, particularly due to the lengthy approaches on many par fours. This difficulty often highlights competitors who excel in scrambling. This week, our focus is on players with strong long iron skills and exceptional scrambling abilities.
Betting Tips
Jason Day ($26/Top 10 $2.20)
Love me some Jason Day this week. I think the Aussie represents fantastic value at $26 to win. Finished T3 at the American Express last week to get his 2025 off to a solid start and has a fantastic record at Torrey Pines. To go with his two wins at Torrey Pines in 2018 and 2015, Day has also racked up top 10 finishes in 7 of his last 12 trips there.
Sahith Theegala ($31/Top 30 $2.00)
Has been solid without setting the world alight to start the 2025 season, finishing T37 at the Sony Open and T36 at the Sentry. The best players in the world usually rise to the top at the harder courses though, of which Torrey Pines South is certainly that. Finished 4th at Torrey Pines back in 2023 and is primed for a massive season in 2025. I think an absolute LOCK for top 30 here at decent odds.
